The plane's engines roared to life as it taxied down the runway, picking up speed as it prepared to take off. Rachel's heart pounded in her chest as she gripped the armrests of her seat. She had never been a fan of flying, and this particular flight was especially nerve-wracking for her. She was on her way to a foreign country to visit her mother, who was battling cancer. Rachel hadn't seen her in months due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions that followed.
