The Price of Silence (chap 4-6). Content Warning.
edit 1: typos, tense change Catch up: Chapters 1-3 4 I find the housemaid shot dead in the street two days later. She'd taken the young girl to a safehouse. That was the hope, at least. But when I saw her beaten, bloodied body in an alley across from the hospital, all hope diminished. She's tucked into the fetal position, like a child curling up on the floor to brace for blows from a belt. The blood that once oozed from the bullet hole in her temple is now frozen.

The Price of Silence (chap 1-3). Content Warning.
edit 1: fixing typos, tense changes, and lore inconsistencies 1 The Rivers of Jordan Hospital interior are ridiculously blue. Bright, assaulting azure, not like the sky. More like the radiant color of fish or poisonous tree frogs. The floors are inlaid with blue tile with gold accents along the grout. The walls are uniformly blue with an alternating cross and star pattern along the top and bottom.

Silent Hill 3 Analysis: Frightfully Feminine Fears (Part 1). Content Warning.
Silent Hill 3 is a game I still have yet to play through to the end. I usually chicken out by the subway level because the game is so hauntingly, oppressively horrifying. I've been trying to figure out why this game affects me in this way so much. I finally drummed up the courage to finish Silent Hill 2 a couple of years ago and its tension-fraught atmosphere had me reaching for some music to play to get me through the hospital and prison level.

Silent Hill: Ascension - I Don't Know What I Expected
I'm choosing to believe that Silent Hill: Ascension is a metaphysical manifestation of every Silent Hill's worst fear: The franchise being turned into a tasteless, mediocre cash cow. Only we cannot pull out a rifle and shoot a boss representing our guilt to make it go away. Or drag the Silent Hill IP behind a shed and put a merciful buckshot between its eyes.

7 Things I DON'T Want to See in the 'Silent Hill 2' Remake
My opinions of Konami are lower than ever since the abominable release of Silent Hill: Ascension. Seriously, if your plan was to create a manifestation of an anti-capitalist gamer's worst fear, then mission fucking accomplished. You couldn't leave the IP alone, could you? Nope, you dug up its corpse, cut it up, and sold the pieces to whatever game developer would deal with you. I thought the Silent Hill brand being adapted to a fucking Pachinko machine was rock-bottom, but apparently you managed to dig through bedrock and survive Earth's molten core.

Sovereign: Part Three
It was Monday again. Amy wondered if she should even continue going to Mrs. Faye's manor. She felt like she had intruded too much in her burning curiosity to uncover information. After all, these weren't her stories to tell, they were Mrs. Faye's to be told or not be told. She'd learned that lesson in college when she aspired to interview Paulette Nils, a Black transgender woman who managed to escape a Sovereign reeducation camp. The email Amy received had been respectful but firm in its refusal.
