Miracle: A Look at the 1969 New York Mets
The 1960s saw a huge expansion boom in professional sports, and Major League Baseball was definitely no exception. MLB teams were relocating in the 1950s, but the 1960s saw teams placed all over the continent. By the end of the 1968 season, there were 20 teams in MLB, 10 in each league. They were not done, though, as 1969 saw four more teams added; the American League saw the debuts of the Kansas City Royals (one year after the Athletics left Kansas City and moved to Oakland) and the Seattle Pilots (who moved to Milwaukee a year later and became the Brewers), while the National League's newest teams were the San Diego Padres and the Montréal Expos.

CFL Week 11 Recap: Tenth Time's the Charm
Ladies and gentlemen, the Edmonton Elks have won a game in 2023! The Elks' season is pretty much over; they entered Hamilton having already lost the entire first half of their games. The team was coming off a huge disappointment in Week 10, going from being on the verge of pulling off a massive upset against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, to blowing a sure thing and increasing their home losing streak. Regarding their meeting with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Elks started with a good-sized lead. It wasn't 22 points, but still, it was a good lead for them.

Villainess Review: Ariande Conniver (The Serial Killer Seduced Me)
Man, oh man...where do I start?! Let me just say, I had my ultimate reason for being excited for this Lifetime film, originally titled, Picture Her Dead, now retitled, The Serial Killer Seduced Me. The film's central protagonist is Chloe Cochran, a practicing artist who works at a senior care facility. Her favorite tenant is Lillian, who happens to own a particular portrait, though she doesn't reveal much about the artist, or what the "V" on painting means or stands for. Chloe, with the permission of her friend/co-worker, Rona, receives the permission to pursue her dream, but after Chloe leaves, sadly, Lillian is murdered.

A Look at the 1968 Detroit Tigers
Before relocation and expansion became a big boom in the late 1950s and the 1960s, the American League had eight franchises. For the most part, it was the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees dominating the original American League, but some of the other franchises did their share of winning as well. And then there's the Detroit Tigers, who are quite hard luck. Entering this point, they had only won the World Series twice, but one of those two championships was the famous 1945 Series against the Chicago Cubs, who won their last pennant until 2016. The Tigers, sadly, were not used to success, but 23 years after adding to the Cubs' woes, they got it together.

Villainess Review: Julia Byron-Kim (Dangerous Lies)
I remember learning about this movie three years ago, and two simple words hooked me: Camila Mendes. There's a rule I have: if someone from Riverdale has something out, I watch it. Camila Mendes is amazing on that show as Veronica Lodge, I think she's one of the true top stars on that show. So because of this, in 2020, I dove right in to this Netflix film, Dangerous Lies, which starred Mendes as Katie Franklin, a waitress who is married to Adam Kuttner, who saves Katie's diner from being robbed at gunpoint. Four months pass, and Katie is suddenly working as a caretaker for elderly Leonard Wellesley, and as for Adam, he ends up hired as Leonard's gardener after Katie vents to Leonard about their money problems.

Sadly, Twitter is Not a Safe Space Anymore
We all love Twitter, don't we? I certainly do. Interacting with others on the site. Actually interacting with celebs as well! I myself love it because I live tweet a lot of shows and sporting events, including, but not limited to, the Colorado Avalanche's 2022 Stanley Cup Championship. That was a truly amazing day for this longtime Avs fan. Anyway, the point is, that's what Twitter is for: conversing, having fun, and not worrying about dealing with difficult people.

Baseball's Biggest Bloopers
I was starting junior high at the time, and as I went to my sixth period class, I saw a collection of books as I entered. One book stood out to me: Baseball's Biggest Bloopers. I opened it, read it, and repeated...over and over and over again. I still have it, and when I have the time, I read it again. I absolutely loved this book so much.

Villainess Review: Judy (My Son Didn't Do It)
So far, the month of August has been pretty fruitful regarding Lifetime films, though the centerpiece of this month's action, IMO, has to be My Son Didn't Do It (originally titled, Catfish Murder). The film centered on Helen Parker, a widowed mother of two teenagers, Taylor and Gia, the former receiving an award for his academics, though Taylor isn't too crazy about prestiges. The family has a strong bond with another mother-son duo, Judy and Miles. In fact, Miles, Taylor, and Gia all attend the same school, with Miles being a big time soccer star. Judy, basically sees her son as the next Lionel Messi.

How My Confidence in Fiction Writing Has Increased
It's been three months since it happened and I still can't believe it. For years, I've been insecure as far as actually writing fiction in any forum. The imagination's there--big time. The will's there. My biggest fear was the reaction. Would people actually like this? Would they care? Would they see this as just fluff not worth reading? Vocal has helped me a bit, but I still had my doubts regarding reactions.

CFL Week 10 Recap: It Was 22-0
The heart of the 2023 CFL season began with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Edmonton facing the hapless Elks. So I figured that it would be quite the bloodbath to kick off Week 10. Sure enough, I was right. When I tuned in to this game for the first time, it was quite one-sided. It was the second quarter, and the score was 22-0 in favor of the Edmonton Elks.

Perfection: A Look at the 1956 New York Yankees
On October 4, 1955, the New York Yankees were shut out in Game Seven of the World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers, handing the Dodgers their first championship and marking the first time that the Yankees lost the Fall Classic to the Dodgers. It was a shocking setback for the Casey Stengel-managed Bronx Bombers, but as the saying goes, "The best revenge is living well." In sports, when a team gets punched in the mouth, that motivates said team to hit back, and if any team knew how to hit back in explosive fashion, it was the New York Yankees.

A Wisdom Tooth, a Bowl of Soup, and the Stanley Cup Playoffs
I will never forget that weekend in 2012. I wish I could forget the pain I was feeling in the back of my jaw. It was one of my teeth. I didn't know what the cause was. I thought it was something I had eaten; at that time, I was a bit crazy about M&Ms, usually the peanut ones. Finally, my mom told me what the issue was: my wisdom tooth.
