Life, Controlling Your Own Destiny, and Everything (NFC Week 16)
The National Football Conference continues to be the hot mess that it has been for the last few years. I still remember last year's final week, which saw two open spots up for grabs between teams who were either 8-8 or 7-9. It was wacky and wild, and this year could top that. I had to separate this week's piece by conference because the American Football Conference could have everything settled, and while the NFC can still leave things unsolved even at the final week, it's still worth a look see.

All Wrapped Up in a Neat Little Package?! (AFC Week 16)
We are now entering the final three weeks of the 2024 NFL season, and it's wild. It's always very wild during Week 16, which is normally a Christmas week, but the calendar's makeup has allowed the NFL to kick off Week 17 on Christmas Day, so Week 17 will be a Christmas/Countdown to New Year's week, while the impending Week 16 will serve as an early Countdown to the Holidays. Because of what's happening regarding the scenarios for this week, I have to separate this by conference, because the American Football Conference could have everything settled by the end of the week. It's true.

Simpsons Review: "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire"
Amazing, isn't it? 35 years. That's a long time in anything. Funny, this whole thing started as just a few minutes at a time on a sketch comedy show. Now? It's the measuring stick. It's been the measuring stick for many years. Primetime animation may have started with William Hanna and Joseph Barbera over six decades ago, and while they set that bar, Matt Groening raised it exponentially. Over 700 episodes have aired, and it all officially began with a simple Christmas celebration.

NFL Week 15 Recap: Paradigm Shift
You know, I had to be one of very few NFL fans who actually didn't have this game between the Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Lions circled on my Week 15 itinerary. Don't get me wrong; there were quite a few games I was focused on for that week, but this one, despite the heavy anticipation, was not one of them. Everyone saw this as a Super Bowl LIX preview. I honestly can't see why. We all know Josh Allen falters in January. And as genuinely good as the Lions are, something will always happen with them.

Stark Raving Vicious
WWE is coming off a massively epic Saturday Night's Main Event program that really showed out, with the show seeing the official crowning of the first-ever Women's United States Champion. At the event, Chelsea Green won the Finals of that title's tournament; outlasting 11 other immensely talented superstars to earn that distinguished honor. With that quest finished, the focus now shifts to Raw's Women's Intercontinental Championship, as that tournament has Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria in the Semifinals awaiting their opponents.

Reviewing the Conclusion of the Women's United States Championship Tournament
The best thing to happen to WWE's Women's Division was the recent and long overdue addition of the midcard championships. First, the Women's United States Championship was announced. Twelve women battled for a chance to make history on the big stage known as Saturday Night's Main Event, and on the previous night's edition of SmackDown, it was down to the Final Four.

Always Bet on Blackwood
For me, this was a very awesome Saturday night. I enjoyed seeing Saturday Night's Main Event for the first time in 16 years, and as the show reached the second half, the Colorado Avalanche began play against the Nashville Predators. This was the third meeting of the season against the Preds; the first meeting in Nashville went the Preds' way, but the second meeting was the overtime win at home for the Avs. This was also the second game of a brief two-game homestand before the Avs would head back on the road for three games in the Pacific Time Zone.

Reviewing a Hat Trick of Villainesses from "Don't Let Him Find You"
2024 has been quite an interesting and delicious year for Lifetime thrillers. I'll definitely delve more into that in my annual year end top 10 list, which I've been writing since 2021. I've enjoyed a lot of these thrillers and the villainesses that have come with them, and that collection does include this movie that aired on Black Friday: Don't Let Him Find You.

A Cold Homecoming
Finally! Home sweet home for the Avs! This has been a strange schedule so far for the Colorado Avalanche. We are coming off a five game Eastern road trip that saw us win four of those five games. The latest game was a 6-2 win in Pittsburgh over Sidney Crosby's Penguins. Now we are finally in the familiar setting known as Ball Arena. It was December 12, yet this was our first home game this month. That's how whacked our schedule has been. For this bout, it's our second meeting of the season against the Utah Hockey Club, with our first meeting being a blowout win for the Avs in Salt Lake City.

Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 14)
Week 15 is underway, and before I do talk about Week 14's top fantasy players, I have to mention this. The game between the Rams and Niners. The low scoring game. That low score came at a bad time for fantasy owners, because in standard leagues, Week 15 ends the regular season. That means some people were looking to get in to the playoffs. In some custom leagues, the playoffs start in Week 15, and that game was damaging. How damaging? Cooper Kupp on TNF: three targets, no catches. A big fat ZERO on Fantasy on Thursday. And yes, I had him in my starting lineup in my Quarterfinal matchup.

Road Warriors
There they are, folks. Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon. These are my two favorite players currently in the NHL. It's amazing that I've seen each of their careers since Day One. When Sid started, MacKinnon idolized him, especially since they came from that same place: Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. Sid was drafted back in 2005 by the Penguins, while the Avs would draft MacKinnon #1 overall eight years later.

And Then There Were Eight
The countdown to Raw's debut on Netflix has reached the home stretch. We are now less than a month away from the momumental episode of Raw, which will air on the first Monday of 2025, and will take place at the Intuit Dome, the newly opened arena in Inglewood, California that hosts the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers. As WWE prepares for that moment, they are also preparing to crown two midcard champions in the Women's Division. The Women's United States Championship chase is almost over, but the one involving the Women's Intercontinental Championship is barely underway.
