Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 14)
Analyzing the highest scoring players, by position, during Week 14 of the 2024 season

Week 15 is underway, and before I do talk about Week 14's top fantasy players, I have to mention this. The game between the Rams and Niners. The low scoring game. That low score came at a bad time for fantasy owners, because in standard leagues, Week 15 ends the regular season. That means some people were looking to get in to the playoffs. In some custom leagues, the playoffs start in Week 15, and that game was damaging. How damaging? Cooper Kupp on TNF: three targets, no catches. A big fat ZERO on Fantasy on Thursday. And yes, I had him in my starting lineup in my Quarterfinal matchup.
Week 15 is a story for another time. Let's talk about Week 14, and the players who showed out:
QB: Josh Allen

Here's how fantasy scoring works for quarterbacks: 1 point per every 25 passing yards (or 0.04 points per passing yard), and passing touchdowns are 4 points each. Interceptions are usually a 1 point deduction, and lost fumbles are a 2 point deduction. Josh Allen. Oh man. 342 yards (13.68 points), 3 touchdowns (12 points), ran for 82 yards (8.2 points) and 3 touchdowns (18 points). The total: 51.88 fantasy points! Holy cow!!!
RB: Zach Charbonnet

Scoring for running backs goes like this: 1 point per every 10 rushing yards, and touchdowns are 6 points each, while PPR applies. Zach Charbonnet showed out in place of Kenneth Walker III against the Cardinals: 134 yards (13.4 points) and 2 touchdowns (12 points), as well as 7 receptions (7 points) for 59 yards (5.9 points), for a grand total of 38.3 fantasy points. It was a week for RB2s and RB3s, as both he and SF's Isaac Guerendo were the top rushers on Fantasy in Week 14.
WR: Ja'Marr Chase

He's done it again, folks! Scoring for wide receivers: PPR (Points Per Reception) applies, 1 point per every 10 yards, and touchdowns are 6 points each. Ja'Marr Chase's numbers: 14 receptions (14 points), 177 yards (17.7 points), and 2 touchdowns (12 points), as well as 14 rushing yards (1.4 points), for a grand total of 45.1 points! Chase continues to show out for a Bengals team that is, somehow, on the verge of missing the playoffs for the second straight season.
TE: George Kittle

See, if George Kittle had more performances like this, I would have drafted him more. Scoring for tight ends is the same as wide receivers, and regarding Kittle, 6 receptions (6 points) and 151 yards (15.1 points), totalling 21.1 points. Mind you, Kittle led the TE category for Week 14 without scoring a touchdown. As I said before, PPR definitely helps.
K: Anders Carlson, Jason Sanders, and Matthew Wright (tie)

Here's how scoring for kickers goes: extra points are 1 point, of course. Regarding field goals, those under 40 yards are worth 3 points, 40-49 yard FGs are worth 4 points, and those 50 yards or longer are worth 5 points. For Week 14, we have a three-way tie for the lead: Jason Sanders, Anders Carlson, and Matthew Wright each had 16 fantasy points. Wright made two from the 30s (6 points), one from the 40s (4 points), one from the 50s (5 points), and an extra point (1 point). Carlson made two from less than 40 (6 points), two from the 40s (8 points), and two extra points (2 points). As for Sanders, he made two from less than 40 (6 points) and two from the 50s (10 points).
DEF: San Francisco 49ers

Here's how scoring for team defenses goes. Regarding scoring defenses, a shutout is 10 points, giving up 1-6 points is 7 points, giving up 7-13 points is 4 points, giving up 14-20 points is 1 point, giving up 21-27 points is no points, giving up 28-34 point is a 1 point deduction, and giving up at least 35 points is a 4 point deduction. Elsewhere, sacks are 1 point, interceptions are 2 points, safeties are 2 points, fumble recoveries are 2 points, blocked kicks are 2 points, and touchdowns are 6 points. The 49ers defense led the way in a week where no defense really showed out on fantasy. They racked up seven sacks (7 points) and had a fumble recovery (2 points), while giving up 13 points (4 points). A grand total of 13 fantasy points; one of only four team defenses who had double digits in Week 14.
I had the Niners D in some leagues, and of course, Chase's efforts resulted in me finishing 11-3 in one league and getting the #1 seed. To any of you in the playoffs now in Fantasy Football, I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you have a good run to championship glory!
