NFL Week 2 Recap: Second Verse, Same as First
A tide is turning, folks. The overall main event of the second week of the 2025 season was the anticipated meeting between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. For the Chiefs, this was not only their first game of the year on American soil, this was their home opener--against the team who clobbered them in Super Bowl LIX seven months prior. This was so heavily hyped; it was nationally televised--the lone game on the 4:25PM Eastern time slot. This was also the Chiefs' chance to tell the NFL world that the rumors of their demise were greatly exaggerated.

MLB Pennant Race 2025: The Switch
You know, for all of the complaints about how long baseball season is, it really goes by in a flash. It seems like yesterday that we were all looking forward to Opening Day, but here it is, the middle of September. We have two weeks--14 measly days--remaining in the 2025 MLB season, and there's still quite a bit to decide. But we do have a few developments from this past week.

Game 163, We Hardly Knew (and Saw) Ye
We're in the month of September, which is the pivotal final month of MLB's regular season. So with that, I think it's time that I finally do what I had planned on doing for a few years now. This story is a long overdue elegy of an underseen, underrated, yet amazing attribute to the sport of baseball: the tiebreaker.

CFL Week 14 Recap: Getting Down to Business
The week after Labour Day Weekend in the CFL is always interesting. For one, that week sees some of the rivalry matches from that previous week take place again, this time with the home field switching. Secondly, and more importantly, it marks the conclusion of the heart of the schedule, the middle seven weeks of the season, meaning that there's just seven weeks remaining after that aftermath week.

NFL Week 1 Recap: Overreactions and Underperformances
There are 52 (or 53, depending on the calendar) Sundays in the entire year. Since 2021, we hold a special place for 18 of these Sundays. The first of these Sundays came and went, and featured a baker's dozen of NFL games--13 of the 16 games that kicked off the NFL's 106th season. So let't get this first full week recap started, shall we? Let's start with, oh, I don't know... Lions/Packers. Big NFC North battle, had it circled on my mental calendar the moment the schedule was released, very important to both teams.

"Beyond the Gates" Week 26 Review
Please forgive my lateness for this recap, because once again, CBS placed Beyond the Gates on yet another hiatus. While the end of August saw more new episodes, the beginning of September didn't. The first five days of September came and went, with no new episodes of Beyond the Gates. This is the third time we've seen a hiatus like this, and the soap's only been on for a hair over six months. I'll just say it: the hiatuses are racially motivated. Why is BTG being put on these random breaks, but Y&R and B&B run uninterrupted? CBS has been targeting any shows with representation for while now. Yes, BTG's getting another season, but still. There's only one good reason to pre-empt anything from CBS Daytime, and that's the beginning of March Madness. Other than that: run it!

MLB Pennant Race 2025: Closing In
The first week of September came and went, and while we said "hello" to a new NFL season, Major League Baseball began the end. We are now down to the final 21 days of the 2025 season, and they should be very intriguing. Not much has changed in the last seven days, but something tells me we'll see some huge movements very soon.

NFL Week 1 SNF Recap: What Just Happened?!
We are in for one insane season, folks! As I said before, NFL games will be separated into their own stories if need be. Even though the opening week's first Sunday Night game featured two high level AFC squads, I figured it would, at best, serve as the lead opener of the overall Week 1 recap. That was the case, until the wild chaos happened. Given that, and the high importance surrounding this, it has to be its own story.

NFL Kickoff 2025 Recap: Turning the Tide
The NFL is back, and what a start to this young season! This is my fifth year writing the weekly NFL recaps on Vocal, but last year I did change it up. I decided that I would split up certain weeks if need be, because cramming (at most) 16 games in a single story can be exhausting. The same plan will be instilled this year, and I may split up more weeks, but not all of them--only if certain games stand out. Of course, Opening Week definitely applies. Last year, I wrote about the opening game and the international game separately, but here, I'll cover both this year.

CFL Week 13 Recap: Labour Day is a Very Nail-Biting Day
Ah, Labour Day. The NFL had long stopped opening their season on Labo(u)r Day Weekend, but the CFL continues to celebrate Labour Day with the usual rivalry games. Usually it's a four-game week that starts on the Friday before the holiday, but this year, it was an abbreviated three-game week that started on the day before Labour Day. And as those who have read my stories about the CFL notice, I always honour the Canadian spellings. While we Yanks celebrated Labor Day, the Canadians do so with the "u" involved.

A Look at the 2025 Monday Night Football Schedule
Are you ready for some Vocal?! After much messing around, finally, here's the conclusion of the 2025 NFL schedule preview. It started with the Sunday Night Football preview, followed by the Thursday Night Football on Prime preview, the international games, and the holiday games. Now it's time to talk about the spot that ends nearly every week of NFL action: Monday Night Football.

MLB Pennant Race 2025: Goodbye August, Hello September Chaos
Well, baseball fans, it's that time again. The month of August is over, and now, the real fun begins. The month of September has arrived, and it will be quite a chaotic month indeed. Of course, September is the final month of the regular season in baseball, and it's the very month where the numbers start to thin out. There are 28 days, four weeks even, left in the season. September 28 ends the 2025 regular season, and the postseason actually starts on September 30, the final day of the month. This is the fourth year of the playoff format that sends six teams per league (12 total) to the postseason. Three division winners and three Wild Cards, with the top two division winners getting byes to the Division Series. The other teams will play in the best-of-three Wild Card Series, with home field going to the better seed (#3 or #4). It's a fixed bracket all the way; the winner of #3 vs #6 faces #2, and the winner of #4 vs #5 faces #1.
