Passing Fancy 2
Passing Fancy 2 Alfred, who insisted on being called Al ever since he discovered Alfred was Batman’s butler, stood tall and straight on the beach, barefoot, the warm wet sand at the ocean's edge squishing up through his toes, his eyes shut against the sun as his face tilted toward its warmth. Sea breezes blew through his wind-tousled white hair which had somehow remained full and thick while the hair of his friends whitened and eased away with age.

Where the Crawfish Scream
Where the Crawfish Scream “Well think about it. If you were dragged out of your home, bagged in a croaker sack, hosed down and thrown into a big pot with all your family and friends to be boiled alive just so some Cajun or Cajun Wannabe could further vilify your existence by ripping you apart before emptying your shell and eating you. Would you be singing? No way in hell. You’d be screaming to the top of your lungs.”

Eat at El Andariego
El Andariego Restaurant, Ashton, Maryland El Salvadorean and Mexican Cuisine I happen to live in the suburbs of the Nation's capital, which is utopia for diners seeking variety in eating options. Montgomery County, Maryland, suburb to Washington DC, has students from 164 different countries who arrived speaking 184 different languages. And somewhere within the metropolitan area there is likely to be a restaurant or a food stand selling food representative of each of those countries.

Charity Shops and Car Boot Sales
Charity Shops and Boot Sales Thrifting thru England If you only visit the museums, tourist destinations, castles, and great houses of England, you are missing out on seeing the Brits from a different perspective. The lives of modern English Folk are better reflected in their Charity Shops, Car Boot Sales, Jumbles, and Market Day Stalls. I should add Pubs to the list, but this story is about the English equivalent of our Thrift Shops, and therefore extraneous to the story, except that they are great places to rest up when your feet tell you to cool it for a while.

Thrift Shop Thrills
Thrift Shop Thrills Our house is full of thrift shop, yard sale, auction house, and estate sale treasures. Luckily my wife and I both are drawn to thrift shops and all their variations, wherever they are. If we go to the beach, we go to a thrift shop near the beach and buy champagne glasses to use while sitting on a balcony, watching the waves, and toasting our good fortune of being there. If we go to England, it is much a tour of the thrift shops as it is a tour of stately mansions and castles.

Titles for Walking
Titles for Walking When I am out walking, which isn't a whole lot anymore, I invariably run songs through my mind. Kicking in really fast because it pertains to my activity, I may find myself singing softly and striding to Fats Domino's "Walking to New Orleans", and then find I can remember but two verses. Ain't That a Shame? I can just picture him up On Blueberry Hill picking blackberries because blueberries are in short supply in South Louisiana. As a matter of fact, hills are also in short supply, but I guess a levee would do. And there is no shortage of levees in New Orleans

Teen Time
Teen Time Granny died and they took her away. How was that possible? One day she was bustling around in the trailer frying eggs and making cat head biscuits for breakfast with some biscuits left over for an after school snack. And the next day when he came back to the trailer from school she was gone. Yeah, she had a pretty bad cough, but she said it was just her allergies acting up.

Seven Songs of Solacement
Seven Songs of Solacement This was a very difficult piece to write because of all the self initiated interruptions. With every song I mentally placed on my good feelings list, I was compelled to find it online and listen to it, which in turn so mellowed me out that it was tempting to just listen to the music and put off writing until later. Even so, I was able to winnow down from hundreds of "possibles" a playlist of seven guaranteed to becalm me and take me to a place of good feelings and good memories.
