Jamie Lee Curtis: "I Bring Sobriety With Me"
I have always admired Jamie Lee Curtis, though I'm no huge fan of the genre that got her started. I'll admit to never seeing Halloween or its sequels. I only saw bits and pieces of Blue Steel. I probably missed a good many of her more popular film roles, though a favorite film of mine continues to be True Lies.

Acceptance: Freedom Is Found from Within
"Freedom is found from within." When I heard #JonathanVanNess say that in an episode of #QueerEye, something resonated deep within me. I work with students who frequently struggle with self-acceptance or even being accepted by family members and friends for a range of reasons. Adults sometimes struggle with the same thing, for a range of reasons; sometimes the lack of acceptance that we might have can paralyze us for years.

How Jonathan Van Ness Became a Role Model
I'm a huge Queer Eye fan. I follow all five of the current #FabFive on Twitter (except for #KaramoBrown, who left Twitter amid backlash he received following comments he made regarding #SeanSpicer). I've seen all four seasons of Queer Eye repeatedly on Netflix; it's my second favorite show to watch to unwind after RuPaul's Drag Race, and I've seen several appearances made by Tan (France, fashion expert), Antoni (Porowski, food expert), Karamo (culture expert), Bobby (design expert) and Jonathan (Van Ness, grooming expert) on various talk shows. I love the group's chemistry and how genuinely invested they are in their "heroes." I also love the genuine affection they all seem to have for one another; in a world which sometimes feels as though it's gotten exceedingly negative, seeing these five men being open to their experiences and to how they feel about each other is just something really powerful to witness.

Why Is Harvey Weinstein Still Protected?
There's a tenet in the North American legal system with which we are all familiar: innocent until proven guilty. We are told we shouldn't openly vilify those who are awaiting trial, even when there is such an overwhelming amount of damning evidence that the person in question should immediately be placed in jail.

GMA's Lara Spencer Apologizes - But Is It Too Late?
While conducting a segment on Good Morning America on August 23, 2019, #LaraSpencer caused a royal uproar. She was discussing what #PrinceGeorge, son of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, will be studying at school. As a six-year-old, one might expect that the young prince will see more than his fair share of the traditional math, science, and English studies. Apparently, though, the youngster will be also studying computer coding and ballet, the latter of which inspired Spencer to comment, "We'll see how long that lasts," sparking an ongoing round of laughter from the audience.

"You Need To Calm Down" Is Exciting
I was a pretty big #TaylorSwift fan not so long ago. Up until Reputation dropped, I really enjoyed both her country songs, which is basically where she first found popularity, and her forays into pop music. It wasn't that I thought Reputation was a bad album; far from it. I think by that point—only two years ago—I'd just had enough of Taylor Swift for a little while, as radio stations had a tendency to overplay her music.

Donald Trump Blasts Bette Midler
One of the hardest things in the world to do when you've been shown to be wrong is to apologize, but after wrongfully attributing a quote to President Donald Trump, Bette Midler did exactly that. Not only did she apologize, she posted the source information which proved her information that she originally posted was wrong.

'Avengers: Endgame': #ThankYouAvengers
WARNING: There may be some spoilers ahead. Avengers: Endgame was the culmination of over 10 years, and 22 films, and I, for one, am grateful. I hate to say it, but I have not seen all the movies in the #MarvelCinematicUniverse. This might make me a relative heathen to #Marvel fans, but hear me out.

'Avengers: Endgame' Gives Me All the Feels
At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, my oldest daughter was in tears. How could she not be? The heart-wrenching scene of Peter Parker disintegrating in Tony Stark's arms, saying, "Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good," was enough to cause most people to instantaneously break down on its own—let alone the disintegrations of so many of our favorite heroes. Certainly, there was quite a bit of humor, especially in the exchanges between Thor and his "rabbit" friend, Rocket Raccoon, but Infinity War is quite probably the darkest Marvel movie to date. It's pretty much a sure thing that Endgame will be of a similar tone, especially given audiences will be anticipating some key deaths in the movie, but all is not lost. Now that a number of trailers for Endgame have hit, promising that this will be the biggest superhero movie—if not the biggest movie, period—of all time, there is far more hope than any of us might have felt when Infinity War ended.
