What Was Kathy Griffin Thinking?
Kathy Griffin has never been known for playing it safe, and unless things change, she will never be known for that. While her particular brand of humor has drawn some raised eyebrows in the past, it would appear that a shot taken by photographer Tyler Shields of the comedian has gone far too far.

Why 'Star Wars' Is My History
I was only 4 when the original Star Wars movie bowed in theaters on May 25, 1977, and so, I don't really have a solid memory of seeing it. I do, however, remember watching it several times over on recording over the years, and becoming more eagerly involved in the entire saga as I grew with it. I remember feeling utterly gutted when in Empire Strikes Back, Han Solo disappeared into the carbon freezing chamber, looking so anguished as he tried to capture Leia's face in his memory, fighting to keep her gaze until he was no longer able to see. I also remember the utter fun and joy that Return Of The Jedi was, from the first introduction of Wicket the Ewok to the Battle of Endor, and how heartstopping I felt the action between Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and the Emperor was at the time. It was 1983, and I was 10; I'd been an avid collector of all things Star Wars already for several years - I'd gotten my collectors' badge in Brownies because of my rather impressive and mounted collection of Star Wars trading cards.

Dear Donald... Think About The Kids
Dear Mr. President: As a high school English and French teacher, I get listened to more often than I realized. Kids are quick to point out when think they hear something incorrect or improper pass from your lips, and I learned early in my career to use that to my advantage, usually for a teachable moment of some shape or creation. It's led me to really think about the words I use both in and out of my classroom and especially around the kids in my life.

Manchester Tragedy Sees Suicide Bomber ID'd, Humanity Rising
Terror has hit the world's youngest, and once again, humanity is showing its resolve. Pop sensation Ariana Grande had just finished her concert in a packed Manchester Arena when concertgoers heard a loud "bang" and saw smoke, sending fans and parents reeling and seeking both cover and medical aid. By the time the smoke had cleared, 22 people were dead and 59 were injured.

My 411 About Coming Off Mental Health Medications
I started taking Effexor XR, aka venlaxafine, in the fall of 2010 after experiencing ongoing issues with what I now am able to recognize as anxiety. I was extremely functional, but my brain and my body were very overtaxed and the theoretical backpack of things that I had been dealing with over the course of several years was virtually to the point of bursting. At the time, what did I know? I was following the example I felt was set by the generation previous to mine; you soldiered on although you most definitely needed a break from the general "stuff" life had been throwing at you.

Who's The "Nut Job?"
Back in November 2016, still a good two months before now-President Trump set foot in the Oval Office for his first day of work, apparently for the American people, odds were 3 to 1 that the bombastic businessman would leave the presidency in shame. With the recent firing of James Comey and Trump's open discussion of how the pressure is now off regarding Russia, oddsmakers are now bumping the odds of a Trump impeachment to a 60 percent certainty.

It's Getting Very Hard To Be Sean Spicer
In the midst of the crisis that was rapidly unfolding around him, White House press secretary Sean Spicer should have been more than capable of telling reporters hounding him for information about President Trump's firing of FBI director James Comey that there was no comment at this time and quickly regroup. Spicer should have been able to tell reporters that the situation was fluid and more information would be given to them in a couple hours, or something. At the very least, Spicer, at 45 years of age, could have simply said "no comment," walked away into the White House, and met with his team to figure out what they could logically say to make Trump's surprise firing of Comey more palatable.

'13 Reasons Why' Gets Second Season
When Jay Asher wrote 13 Reasons Why and saw it published in 2007, odds are good he did not anticipate that it would develop into this controversial, but huge, hit for Netflix. He probably didn't expect that music - and Disney - star Selena Gomez would want to executive produce such a series. For those who have neither read the book nor watched the riveting program, here's a bit of a news flash; the book is set up in such a way that a sequel would simply not work. While I have not watched the series myself, it is my understanding that the series ends with a fairly explicit scene in which a student is shown seriously contemplating a school shooting.

This perhaps unsurprising bit of news surfaced as veteran Today interviewer Matt Lauer sat down with Ellen DeGeneres to talk about the 20th anniversary of her very public coming out, their upcoming 60th birthdays and their prank war.

#FireColbert Justified?
#FireColbert is now making the rounds on Twitter, thanks in no small part to Stephen Colbert's outrage-fuelled outburst during his Late Show monologue Tuesday, May 2. In it, Colbert kicked off by bringing up President Donald Trump's interview with John Dickerson of Face The Nation, which the president quickly aborted when Dickerson effectively tripped Trump up with his claims that the president doesn't "stand by anything." During the interview, Trump referred to Face The Nation as Deface The Nation and accused Dickerson of promoting "fake news."
