Blue is the Warmest Colour
Blue is the Warmest Colour is a sapphic tale featuring tragedy, young love and sexual discovery in the 1990s in France. This book has been on my wishlist for some time. The reason for this was because I saw the film of the same title on Netflix and was impressed with the cinematography. I loved the film when I watched it, it blew me away. I loved the little details and the way it ended. There was some clever storytelling.

Indian Roots
Exploring my Indian roots from my grandfather. Although I don’t remember much about my grandfather, I think he has left an impact on my life. The only memory I have of him is sleeping in his dog’s bed as a toddler. He died when I was a toddler. There are some things I do know about him. His name was Brian. He was blind, and had guide dogs. He had been married three times and had at least nine biological children. My Nan was his second wife. He was born in Mumbai and changed his name when he emigrated here. He took the extra o out of his name and gave us all the Gilholy name. He had at least one brother. Other than that, there’s not a lot that I know about him. Despite that, I think there are several things that I have inherited from him.

The Squarepeg Podcast
Podcasts are fantastic resources for learning. I sometimes wish I could use them more, but they tend to be the last thing on my mind. Especially when there are other medias that I consume more. My favourite thing about podcasts is that they are free and many contain no adverts. The ones that do are often short and don’t spoil the podcast much. I get overwhelmed with how many there are.

How Karaoke Boosted My Confidence
For many of us, karaoke is the closest any of us will get to a pop star life. I’ve learned that karaoke is a fun way to boost my confidence. Before I always used to associate karaoke as an activity you do when you’re drunk with a half-eaten bag of chips and empty bottles and glasses. Doing it sober is a different experiance than doing karaoke when drunk. I thought karaoke was embarrassing as I suck at singing. Being drunk and karaoke always seems to be a fun combination, but I had never done it sober before until recently.

Mistakes I’ve Made In My Job Search
I’ve been unhappy in my workplace for a while and decided it’s time to change jobs. I remember when I was a student at college, I struggled to land a job, but eventually managed to secure jobs in the care sector. It has been a rewarding job, but at the moment the disadvantages are highly outweighing the positive aspects of the work. Because of this, I have decided to look for other work that is both higher paying, less stressful and also a new challenge for me. I think it’s the right time for me to try something different and after a long job search, I feel I have come to the conclusion why it’s not quite working as well.

Why Season 16 of The Apprentice is the Best Comedy the BBC Have Produced For Years!
The Apprentice started off as a British adaptation of Donald Trump’s show The Apprentice where candidates take part in weekly tasks and the winner gets a job whilst the others get fired week-by-week. In later seasons of the UK show, the prize of a job was scrapped and it was replaced with a £250K investment from Lord Sugar.

Replika
Introduction If you like games such as Sims or Tomodachi life, then I think you will enjoy this app. I can see the appeal this app will have. The fear of technology taking over your life is also an understandable one too. I think a lot of people use Replika to create their ideal date and chat with them. The app is a free download, but a lot of their features are premium. The idea that you can start a relationship with a fictional avatar for £43 a year is crazy. I can’t see myself ever wanting to pay for this, but I’d be interested to see what the video chat with your avatar would look and sound like. You might be wondering why I downloaded it? I thought it would be a fun way to interact with my original characters.

What They Don’t Tell You About Care Work
Care work is advertised as being hard work, but also rewarding. Stock pictures of the elderly laughing and smiling and having a piece of mind that everything is sorted for you. When browsing through job advertisement, so many jobs are care work. I still get many messages from care companies encouraging me to apply to work for them, even ones far away from me. People might come to care work thinking it’s all about wiping bums and making cups of tea. There is so much more to the job than that.
