Relationship Healing
A relationship can leave scars physically, emotionally, and mentally. A home is not meant to be a battlefield or constant betrayal. Emotions can feel like waves going from highs and lows. Iyanla: Fix my Life states to be still, to allow thoughts to flow as in meditation, clear out unwanted thoughts. The mind is a powerful place so what we feed it will grow. People love you today and hate you tomorrow. Love can be a wicked game that can leave someone with so much sorrow. Some say, how can I proceed on living and being strong knowing he did me wrong? Why do the days seem so long?

Stop the Violence
Today, we live in a world where mental health and gun violence are the norm. Unfortunately, as of March 5th, 2018, there have been 19 school related shootings resulting in countless lives lost. Psychopathic behavior of copycat serial killers using AR-15s for premeditated murder and the dilemma of the individuals' 2nd Amendment to purchase guns. Unfortunately, “We the People” voted qualified representatives into Congress to protect children and adults, yet casualties do not meet the gun control standards. My heart pours out to the families begging for help while individuals in charge wait for the next incident to occur to act. How many people must be buried before it becomes a state of an emergency? America is in a crisis in the crimes against kids at schools. Urban community deaths are rising, and criminal offense acts, too.

Strive for Greatness
Education is the key to success! My entire life has been a learning experience, from reading books to increasing knowledge in the healthcare field. Although, there is a misconception of hard work pays off vs. it is not what you know but who you know. Someone asked me one day, “What does it mean to have all those degrees just to accumulate debt?” I personally prefer to set goals for longevity and not just live in the moment. It is the norm to buy a car, have brand clothes, and look the part of financially set. Well, I am here to tell you that looks can be deceiving, and the only person to impress is yourself through elevation. Therefore, an education provides financial stability, career advancement, and fulfillment of Maslow’s Hierarchy theory.

Dysfunctional Family
I married a man with two kids and an ex-wife. I have not experienced giving birth to a baby, but I accept his kids as if they were my own. Although, I was never given a manual on the do's or don’ts of being a stepmother yet somehow, I seem to have survived! We have been married for several years, moved out of state to be closer to the kids, and be more supportive. Unfortunately, his ex -wife was in the process of a second divorce and his kids despised me, since they thought their parents would finally get back together. He made it clear to them that I was here to stay. The kids are now adults from a 19-year-old boy and a 24-year-old girl. In the real world, eventually, people grow out of disliking someone and get to know the person, but my experience with the ex-wife became a little more than I bargained for as a step parent.

I Stumbled to the Ground
There is a saying that life can knock you down, but I literally stumbled to the ground. It resulted in an ankle injury, plenty of me time to think about it, and cost so much more than money. I was emotionally and mentally affected thinking that maybe I am not good enough due to my injuries. I was full of doubt of what I could do and stayed in my comfort zone. It was a wakeup call when I saw a woman in her 60s using a cane and she looked at me and said, “You’re so young to have a cane!” That was basically motivation to make a choice to stay down or get back up. I had to stop walking with my head down and take the necessary steps to correct my injury.
