The Rapture Of Pigeons. Top Story - March 2023.
Activity was a high that afternoon at the Sunny Day Assisted Living as Margot waited for her grandson to take her out. When Jake drove up in a 1962 Buick Special convertible, the same marlin blue color that Margot adored, several residents stood up from their chairs to get a better look at the iconic set of wheels.

Saving The Puritan Sea Monster. Top Story - February 2023. Content Warning.
September 2022- Rhea My eyes were already heavy from the little sleep as I worked a double shift at The Donut Place the day before. I entered my last class for the day, an elective at Pearce Community College called “Women in New England During the Seventeenth Century.” I’m not sure why I selected this class other than it fit into my schedule and I needed the credits if I was ever going to transfer into four-year college. I wasn’t sure what I even wanted to do with my life yet. I was just kind of floating, but I felt like getting a degree in something would help.

Taking Time With Haiku
I have enjoyed each of the Haiku challenges. Poetry in general has not been my forte, but I now have more of an appreciation for all the different forms of the genre. A few of my poems have even made a top story which has been exciting. So that being said I am very grateful to Vocal once again for the opportunity to write and have really enjoyed the Haiku challenges in particular.

Seaglass House Builders
Waves splashed over my daughter, Kalena, as she tried to rescue her sandcastle from the incoming tide. She jumped and giggled as she held onto shells and seaglass that were bejeweled to her castle which was now slipping into the ocean. Light cascaded around the blue, green and clear pieces as they floated in the waves.
