I'm begging you to deconstruct
I'm 30, and traditionally at this age there is an expectation that you start settling into who you are as a person. Even in this ever aging society where the generations begin to linger on for good or ill, 30 is a big age. But it's also still quite young. Even if we have great hardships ahead, I can expect to make it at least another 30 years and probably more like 50 given family history of longevity and personal health. Even feeling older than I've ever felt, I still also feel young. And this is an example of how we need to reframe how we think about everything.

Party Favors
Boaz VIII Alderon was a tall man even in his youth. He stood at six feet and eight inches when standing straight, which he always did. His father, his mother, and his aunt the Cardinal had all impressed on him and his brothers the need to seem strong willed and confident in every situation. It was easier for him to hold his posture straight on Luna than it was on Earth.

Sacred Silence
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Boaz had thought once or twice he could hear a shout or a gasp from his friends when they played outside the City domes and tripped or slipped between the boulders. As an adult he had no such illusions, only random tricks of the mind when he remembered his younger days.

Double Orange Radiation 2
PART 2: On the Gungnir, The Next Day: Time is relative. This quirk of physics becomes especially apparent on long term space voyages. New travelers often get an advanced form of jet lag or worse when they cannot adjust to life without a consistent day and night cycle. A tried and true tip from old military doctrine helped alleviate some of the nasty effects of time disorientation for officers of the Armada: “sleep whenever possible.”

Double Orange Radiation 1
Double Orange Radiation 1: A Skrilxya and Ben Story: Skrilxya Yonamey, a First Commissioner of the Mind Empire Armada, has taken a mission from the Admiralty to investigate the border systems for pirate activity and aid the Allied Ombroj tribes against their antagonistic kin. Several Ombroj tribes use the system of 61 Cygni as a waystation for their nomadic fleets. A pair of merchants now lay claim to an asteroid rich in Crimson Matter, the volatile fuel for FTL travel that all the great powers of the galaxy crave. Skrilxya and her trusted Second Commissioner, Ben Rikaron, are traveling with the merchant team of Marc Tomadilla and Tiluddu to 61 Cygni to protect their claim and to flush out potential pirates.

Money on the Move
Money on the Move: Once the veil was pierced the Gungnir and its fleet found itself in a new realm devoid of solid detail. The warp field generated by the Crimson Matter reaction sent the fleet into phase-space, the outer skin of the universe that encased it from the featureless and timeless outside.

Carving Out a New Home
The Garden Habitat of the Ship Minoa: Patel Frazier had spent all of his teenage years becoming a mechanical engineer. He expected, when he received his assignments after he finished major school, to work within the walls and tunnels of the Minoa, not in the habitat modules with the biological ‘machinery’. And yet here he was, making his way to the grotto where Captain Novak was enjoying the company of his pet Owl.

The Gungnir Takes Flight
Part 1: The Helmsmen The Counterweight Cantina was a multi-story lounge and restaurant that was nestled inside a smoothed grey and red asteroid that formed the space-side high end of South Polar Tower. It was the fastest place to get a drink and a bite to eat since it was mostly staffed by androids, except for several of the cooks and one advising floor manager. Skrilxya had been here once as a child and was back again nearly a decade later. She remembered a pastry she had ordered: a large slice of lemon cake, and she paired it with a piping green tea.

All Saints in the Shallows
Weathered faces made of dampened wood and bleached stone stared silently from the water toward the shore. They never moved or spoke, and no one ever assumed they would. The only sound that could be heard around them was the lapping water and the blustery wind from old and cold Lake Vern. But sometimes, the wind carried a voice that many called the chant of the Water-Saints.
