Author's Note: This story was submitted as a second-round entry into NYC Midnight's 2024 Short Story Challenge. Sebastian Costello was a detective before he could talk to ghosts, but that was a long time ago. Now, he was a private eye, sitting in his car outside a mansion he could never afford, smoking one last cigarette before he went in.
