Unapologetically You

Don't Apologize for Something You Didn't Do

Everything you do feels wrong,

All of your life, a broken song,

Never quite right, never in tune,

A storm, an endless monsoon.

*

They tell you you’re a mistake,

Leaving only chaos in your wake,

I’m sorry is your favorite phrase,

A soothing balm for endless malaise.

*

Stop believing all of their lies,

Break off their chains, open your eyes,

Come as you are, no more hiding,

Heed my words, stop backsliding.

*

You are enough, I promise you this,

Turn your gaze away from that abyss,

Stop apologizing for something you didn’t do

Just be unapologetically you.

Oh this is a masterful piece, Bradley. Powerful reminder. I think anyone who has ever felt worthless or felt the weight of their past wrongs or had people not believe in them would benefit from hearing this reading this. feeling it. I love themessage and love the way you brought it all together in that beautiful last stanza! Thank you for sharing this as part of your submissions for the anthology. Finally reading through the pieces and will let you know in the commnets section of the one I pick, when I have read all of yours. Thanks for taking part, sir!
