I. Introduction "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a classic American novel written by Harper Lee and published in 1960. Set in the 1930s in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, the book explores themes of racism, justice, and morality through the eyes of its young protagonist, Scout Finch. The book was an immediate critical and commercial success and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize in 1961. Harper Lee, who passed away in 2016, is widely regarded as one of the most influential and important American writers of the 20th century.
