In this chapter of āthe filmmakerās guideā weāre going to be thinking and rethinking about actors that I have personally called āawfulā in the past and seeing why I was wrong, and actors whom I called āgreatā in the past and seeing why I was wrong. Hopefully, this helps you to identify how your opinion can change as a human being and how, through research and observation, you can make a more informed conclusion even if your previous one was the entire opposite. Film and literature is all about changing our opinions and if our opinions remain static throughout our study then we probably havenāt had the full experience of the subject at hand. We need to be open to change in our thought processes and really, thatās what criticism and theory is about. If we start by opening our opinions up to change on particular base level types, then we can slowly build these up to see how we could possibly change our opinions on a grand scale. I will start by rethinking actors and actresses I have either previously thought as not very good at their job or very good at their job and will be arguing the opposite; demonstrating my change of opinion. So, if you see the ārethinkingā¦ā line in my title, you can bet it is a part of this series.

A Filmmaker's Guide to: Allegory
In this chapter of āthe filmmakerās guideā weāre actually going to be learning about literature and film together. I understand that many of you are sitting in university during difficult times and finding it increasingly hard to study and I understand that many of you who are not at university or not planning on it are possibly stuck of what to do, need a break or even need to catch up on learning film before you get to the next level. This guide will be brief but will also contain: new vocabulary, concepts and theories, films to watch and we will be exploring something taboo until now in the āfilmmakerās guideā - academia (abyss opens). Each article will explore a different concept of film, philosophy, literature or bibliography/filmography etc. in order to give you something new to learn each time we see each other. You can use some of the words amongst family and friends to sound clever or you can get back to me (email in bio) and tell me how youāre doing. In this chapter of āthe filmmakerās guideā we are going to explore some of the films that have changed our outlook of the possibilities in cinema in some way, shape or form. These can include, but are not limited to: revolutionary cinematography, narratives that challenge the social structure and the common view, trademark styles of auter cinema, brilliant adaptations of novels and other works, films of philosophical value and films that touch our hearts and souls with their incredible underlying messages and morals. Within each of the films in this chapter there is a certain something that makes them special and a certain something that makes them linger long after we have watched them for the first time. Lasting impressions are difficult to create, but I think that the films we will briefly touch on in this chapter are some of the films we will never ever forget.

Focus Your Mind, Body and Soul
I used to get laughed at for my music tastes because they were a lot like my grandfatherās. The great thing about it though was that every time I listened to one of my grandfatherās favourite songs, I would remember him. He died when I was about nine yearsā old and I miss him every single day even as I near twenty-five. Whilst I was studying for my MA degree a few years back, I would listen to various songs that I felt could focus my mind and help me remember my grandparents - all of which are gone. The rockabilly age is possibly my favourite age of all time and with its repetitive and catchy beats, it can help you remember pretty much anything. Old jazz music and dark soul songs, American Folk Revival and Motown are just some of the genres of music that are on my playlist that I would use for studying. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for even considering my playlist because I have been bullied so badly for my taste in music. It was never the next new Katy Perry song, even though I respect those who do like that music. Music is really up to you, but this one is up to me and so here we go. Here are five songs on my playlist to give you an overview of how I get focused. Hopefully, it helps you a bit too.

3 Agoraphobia Coping Mechanisms
Since I was very young, I was diagnosed with pretty bad agoraphobia. It led to a number of things: dermatillomania, hypochondria and various social anxiety problems and panic disorders. During university, I collapsed a number of times in various locations including the library and the lunchroom because of my panic attacks. My agoraphobia no doubt has caused my life to be completely isolated from most every other meaningful human connection. Am I worried about that? No. What am I worried about? I am worried that I one day, it will become impossible for me to shut myself away and so, I require a coping mechanism. Even though it is difficult, I am pretty sure it is not impossible.
