Media That Feels Like Fall
Harry Potter - Books and Movies This one is pretty self explanatory, they start school in the fall. All of the feats and common rooms are cuddly and warm. And both the books and movies provide a sense of comfort and warmth. They are the perfect marathon for cuddling up with apple cider, while listening to the rain outside. While I strongly recommend a full marathon as that is really the only way to truly experience the full awesomeness of the series, if you are short on time I highly recommend The Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire and both parts of The Deathly Hallows. I will be having a full marathon as well as re-reading the series for the uptenth time, happy spell casting!

Triangle of Sadness
This weekend brought on only one new film due to a very important dance competition being just around the corner, and that movie was Triangle of Sadness. Now we once again went into a film knowing nearly nothing, I had only heard that it was a comedy and that Woody Harelson was in it and quite frankly that's all I needed to hear so we booked our seats and settled in.

The Boys - Commentary and Analysis
The season opens with some really weird gratuitous nudity, sex and violence. The show is getting bolder as it keeps getting renewed, each season gets a little more gore and sex oriented which I hear is super close to the comics.

The Boys - Commentary and Analysis
After too long a wait, I finally watched season 2 of the Boys and I have so many thoughts, all of which are framed around the women of the show because I genuinely do not care about any of these men (except of course for Frenchie). So here we go;

House of the Dragon
The first season of House of the Dragon starts to come to a close and the fanbase has firmly planted themselves in team black or team green. Now how anyone could be team green is beyond me and I genuinely think that if you are on Alicent’s side in all this you need psychological help. But here we are ready to watch Rhaenyra and Deamon take their rightful places….here we go.

Amsterdam
AMC’s movie pass has really allowed me to see every movie I want to see, kinda want to see, and looks moderately interesting. So in addition to Smile we also went to see Amsterdam. Now I will go see anything that Margot Robbie is in, she is a phenomenal actress and anything she is in is good. Normally with an A list cast you get mediocre movies so the cast of Amsterdam didn’t do any favors in inspiring the general public to see the movie. We as movie going fans also need to stop using rotten tomatoes as a metric for whether or not a film is good. Because, as a rule, the general public is a garbage metric for the quality of anything. Media literacy is dead as is objective analysis. So audience scores really mean nothing. That said, the reality of this movie is that it was good. Nothing spectacular but it was good.

Smile
As a fan of scary movies I believe they can be a perfect vehicle to tackle real world issues, and bring to life societies deepest fears. That said, I also think that they are extremely delicate and easy to screw up. There is an entire franchise built off of the bad and overused horror movie tropes. Smile was something that intrigued and creeped me out from the beginning. The marketing for this film was very well done leaving audiences with an unsettled feeling that only encouraged horror fans to go see it. Having now seen the movie I can say that the trailer was better.

Bros
The internet's reaction to Bros theatrical release is extremely sad. The box office most definitely does not reflect the charm, wit and heart of this movie. Most of the complaints i’ve heard are shallow and frankly, stupid. So here we go, the reality of the quality of this movie.

House of the Dragon Ep. 7
House of the Dragon has been on an upward swing as the show has gone on (thanks to more women involvement behind the camera). That said with the emergence of women who are treated as actual characters you get truly terrible people. Alicent is on my last damn nerve and Rhaenerya continues to have my heart, as we enter the latter half of the season curiosity builds as to where they are going to leave us. So here we go with episode 7…

House of the Dragon
Two episodes ago I ranted because the men in the writers room once again proved that men can not write women without assaulting them, breaking them down and claiming “historical accuracy”. Last episode the women took the power back both in fiction and behind the screen. The women-written episode was a testament to what empowerment actually looks like for women. I went into tonight's episode knowing that there were both men and women in the writers room and behind the camera. Let's see how (and if) that changes the outcome of the show.

Don't Worry Darling
Lots of rumors, controversy and drama surrounded this film's production and its release. I’m willing to bet that the audiences that saw this film on opening weekend were a 50/50 split between Harry stans and people who were morbidly curious after reading all of the headlines surrounding this film. I was on the morbidly curious side, I went into this film hearing about its production but nothing about the actual film. I really didn’t know what it was about, only that it was a psychological thriller that was getting mixed reviews. So I went to the theater with low expectations, ready to see the dumpster fire.
