Where Tomorrow Begins
I knew her while I was still in my adolescent years, lacking any concrete motivations or the will to express any of my true desires. However, I will be the first to mention my hazy interest in seeing what she would look like as the years passed and her face started to age soft features into ones of maturity. I still had no idea what that feeling was, or what I wanted to do with it. Amidst the changes to everything about my life; my body, my face, and my sexual urges - all of it seemed to revolve around the one consistent thing in my life, Claire. We kissed once...It was after one of those poorly put together end-of-the-year festivals during our junior high years, but I remember it so vividly.

The Farmhouse
It is with a somber and shaken hand that I report my last words from the Curtis residence, uploaded to a cloud of data from this dimly-lit screen in this midnight and moldless confinement. Somehow, I feel it is imperative someone reads this although I am sure my fate will not be altered. The night is silent for now but I can't be certain on how long it will last, any moment now I expect to hear the macabre shrills that echo through my mind and across this land. This shack of a house, my mind - are no match for the unfathomable horrors that occupy the dark waiting.

Who is The THING?
John Carpenter's 1982 Science-Fiction Horror masterpiece The Things follows a crew of scientists and engineers among others stationed in remote Antarctica. Once R.J. Macready (Kurt Russell) does some investigation, it is discovered that Norwegian scientists have come across an extraterrestrial ship lodged in the ice beneath them and have thawed out its only surviving passenger, all hell begins to break loose. Based on John W. Cambell's 1938 novella "Who Goes There", Macready and crew face off (see what I did there?) with a shape-shifting creature intent on surviving-- or even worse, escaping. In the last act of the movie the creature from another world is no longer being hunted but instead, it is studying and eliminating its obstacles that stand in the way of escape by trial and error. After the reality and severity of the situation settle in with the supporting cast, they begin to question and eventually turn on each other in fear of being dissected and consumed. The last twenty minutes of the film five members are presumably still alive when Macready makes the decision to split up, leaving Childs to guard the stronghold and taking Naul & Garry with him to check on the imprisoned Dr. Blair. That's when it happens -- Nauls sees Childs leave his post and then the power is cut, leaving the remaining men in the cold dark antarctic to battle The Thing

Calling Out
“In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act” George Orwell, 1984 It began as a cry out into the cosmos, fueled by the fear of being singled out on a dying planet. In the spring of 2032, a series of cataclysmic events began - some labeling it as Mother Nature’s retaliation. Against all odds, we continued to search for answers as the initial waves of natural disasters ravaged across the planet. Tsunamis swallowed what used to be Tokyo, Japan - volcanic ash colored the horizons dark grey engulfing the skies from Indonesia to Europe. Dormant giants were now awake, cities were flooded as families slept on the roofs of what were once their homes - but the worst was yet to come. As the remains of Tokyo floated about, a deadly virus was first spotted in the Kyoto district. Initially believed to be radiation poisoning from an old nuclear reactor site that had infected those left in the surrounding area, all that came in contact with the disease became fatally ill in a matter of days.

One Last Job
It didn’t take long for Merlin to notice the heart-shaped locket filling the space between his next victim’s breasts. Lousy Larry’s was the final resting place of what their grandparents called “pop culture” and would have been a flourishing pub at that time. He was barely noticeable amidst the pulsing neon lights and poorly-tuned guitars keeping the guests “entertained”. Merlin couldn’t recall the first time he took life away from another human being although he wouldn’t have to suppress these thoughts for much longer, this was his last night on the job. After the devastating flooding of the West Coast in 2033, the bulk of the population sought refuge through the Midwest and stretching into the East Coast. The influx in crime shook the remainder of the country to its core, day after day mountains of bodies were left in the streets as a testimony to something more sinister brewing. By all accords, a government of America’s magnitude should have been able to handle a catastrophe (such as the historical event known as population cleansings of 2033-2035) in its earliest days. It didn’t take long for other countries to identify that a shift in global power was finally starting to materialize, America’s pseudo-superiority had come to an abrupt end.
