“Dammit!” Victor slammed his head against the keys on his typewriter, breathing heavily. He looked up to see a jumbled mess of letters on the otherwise clean sheet of paper. Groaning with irritation, he got up out of the chair to which he confined himself for the past two hours and stepped out the front door.

Early on, Craig only had his big sister Sara. The plague claimed their parents not long after Craig's third birthday. Apparently, their immune systems were too weak to fight it off, but their kids could. Sara was twelve years older and very practical. She brought Craig to some friends who also survived, and they worked together to build their own “family”. Though she stayed focused on finding the essentials like food and first-aid supplies, Sara did grab a jewelry box from their former home and gave the adornments away to everyone in the family. Craig took a large heart-shaped locket simply because it was the biggest. Sara didn't dissuade him from taking it, even giving him a picture of her to put into it, but she did warn him to keep it hidden under his shirt as it would be too tempting for thieves.

Bringing Positivity to Gaming Through Forgotten History
I remember when I was eleven years old. As a Cub Scout, my dad got me a subscription to Boys' Life magazine (now called Scouts Life). One of the semi-regular columns in it was the "Readers' Page" which, like Reader's Digest, allowed people to submit their own stories for publication. I submitted a little story to the magazine. I can't remember what it was about as that was over thirty years ago, but I distinctly remember the joy I felt when I received a letter telling me my piece was to be published along with a check for $25. (Snicker if you want, but that was a lot of money for an eleven-year-old in 1990.) At that point, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to write.

Feral
I lost track of how long it's been since the world ended. I just wander from ruin to ruin looking for food and anything else I can use. I was lucky enough to find a Zippo lighter, shotgun, and Army MREs in some former militant's home. I also stumbled across some weird silver locket shaped like a heart that was in one of the bedrooms. The locket shined brightly enough that it also blinded me. I realized that something like that could expose me in the hellscape I'm stuck in. I don't know why, but I felt compelled to hang on to it regardless.

Hi, and welcome back to The Great Debates, where only the true all-stars get the cup. Whether it's referred to as soccer here in the U.S. or as football everywhere else in the world, it inspires passion like no other sport can. Soccer riots are just the tip of the iceberg. If you think the passionate debate is limited to the pitch in the real world, you are very much mistaken. Soccer video games get debated just as fiercely. While Sony, Midway, and SNK among others have taken their own stabs at soccer video games, in the eyes of the world, there are only two contenders for the World Cup. They are EA's FIFA series and Konami's Pro Evolution series.

Rip-Off Games: Unoriginal But Still Fun
Hi, and welcome back to Silver Linings where the worthy get respect... even if they are just ripping something else off. It can be argued that there's virtually no creativity in big-budget games anymore. Ubisoft is just creating one open world game after another. Square Enix and EA both pushed out crappy Destiny wannabes. The sports game market is more concerned with squeezing players with microtransactions than actually providing fresh experiences. Were it not for low-budget indie games, the gaming market would be in awful shape right now.

'Stay Tuned' - A Different Kind of Spoof Film
Hello, and welcome back to Second Chances where the maligned, forgotten, and ignored are always on the air. Remember when I talked about the movie Cloak & Dagger? Basically, I consider it not only one of my all-time favorite films, but also one of the best video game movies ever made. Some may hesitate to call it a "video game movie" since the titular game is just a plot point rather than the basis for the whole story. I actually consider it a great movie for that very reason. I enjoy the 1992 genre mash-up Stay Tuned for similar reasons.
