Living on the Cool End of the Spectrum

Random Thoughts #23

By Adam WallacePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I've grown among the heated,

The ones who were the bold.

But my mind never melted.

My hues were always cold.

I lived in my own dreams,

Felt the future they made.

A deep look in my soul

Would show a deep violet shade.

When my dreams failed to grow

Into realities I'd want,

A harsh dye of cobalt,

My heart, it would haunt.

The failures surmounted,

The stress and the pain.

My mind was defaced

With a harsh turquoise stain.

I only saw these tints

For too many of my years.

The scheme of my torment,

My failings, my fears.

However, in time,

I found a new light.

Emerald was a new tinct

For the hope shining bright.

The colder glows are still with me.

They still live in my soul.

But, with hope as my ally,

They will never again control.

I haven't written a poem in more than twenty years. Thoughts on this? Let me know, and take care.
