This may surprise some of you who have followed me for years, but it’s an important part of my life, and I believe it’s time to tell my story.

As a kid in elementary school, I was curious about different religions. I started exploring everything I could find—Judaism, atheism, Christianity, and Islam. Eventually, I found myself drawn to Islam because it taught that you could earn your way to heaven through good deeds. That idea made sense to me at the time.

However, my family life was challenging. I lived with my mother and stepfather, who were Christians, and our beliefs often clashed. This led to a lot of tension at home, so I decided to move in with my older sister and her husband, who were Muslims.

A few years later, on the last day of school, I got into a fight with some kids. Afterward, I called my friends for support. My sister, worried about potential drama, insisted I not bring any trouble home. Just then, a white Christian man from a local church knocked on our door. To my surprise, my sister invited him in.

He shared that he and his church wanted to create a positive space for local youth during the summer. Reluctantly, I went with him, thinking it would be a way to avoid conflict. When I arrived at his house, I was overwhelmed by how many young Christians were there, all different ethnicities and backgrounds. We shared food, laughter, and stories, but then the host announced it was time for worship.

I thought, “Oh no, here we go again.” But as they started to play contemporary Christian music, something unexpected happened. I saw everyone worshiping with such joy and sincerity. They were dancing, singing, and genuinely connecting with Jesus. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced.

Despite my efforts to stay detached, I felt an incredible presence fill the room. It was as if God Himself was there. I excused myself to the bathroom, trying to shake off these feelings. In that moment, I started cursing Jesus, insisting that He was just a prophet and not the Son of God, as I had been taught.

But even in my resistance, I found myself weeping on the floor, overwhelmed by that presence. Looking in the mirror, I thought, “I’m a Muslim; what’s happening?” Then I heard a voice—clear and gentle—telling me not to worry about changing but to read His Word and let His love transform me.

This was a turning point for me, though it didn’t mean I immediately converted. I wrestled with my beliefs for a long time. I wanted to honor God but was unsure of the truth. The people I met during that experience were incredibly supportive. They walked with me, sharing scripture and showing me the love of Christ.

Gradually, I began to see Jesus for who He truly is—the Son of God, far more than just a prophet. Embracing Christianity was a journey filled with questions and struggles, but ultimately it changed my life.

Since then, I’ve had the chance to engage in missionary work and share my faith with many people. I encourage all of you to share your testimonies as well. The Bible says we overcome by the power of the blood and the word of our testimony.

It’s not about how eloquently you tell your story; it’s about the one who transformed your life—Jesus. I hope my journey inspires you to reflect on your own faith story.
