A Journey Through Life on Four Wheels
Engines hum, a morning's start,
A dance of steel, a work of art.
With every turn, the road unwinds,
A journey fueled by open minds.
The city fades, the skyline shifts,
Through mountains, plains, and ocean drifts.
A thousand stories in the breeze,
A highway's pulse, a driver's ease.
The lights ahead, they guide the way,
Through nights of chrome and sunlit day.
A fleeting stop, a lasting glance,
In every mile, a second chance.
The road is wide, horizons near,
In every gear, there's less to fear.
For life's a drive, through time and space,
With every turn, we find our place.

French Symbolist artist Gustave Moreau was known for his brilliant depictions of mythological and religious themes. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and took private art courses with artist Theodore Chasseriau. In 1857 Moreau went to Italy and studied the paintings of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Giovanni Bellini. He became the professor of the artists Henri Matisse and Georges Rouault at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. The Musée National Gustave Moreau is in Paris.

I found it by accident. Tucked between a laundromat and a shuttered bookstore, half-hidden by ivy and time, stood a rusted phone booth. Not the sleek glass kind from movies, but an old metal one—peeling paint, cracked receiver, a dial so stiff it groaned when turned. No one had used it in years. Probably decades.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
