A whisper in the silent halls,
A shadow cast against the walls.
A fleeting thought, a breath so tight,
A soul entangled in the night.
The door is there, a frame so wide,
Yet locked away from the inside.
No key, no light, no guiding star,
Just echoes murmuring from afar.
Footsteps pace but leave no sound,
Hands reach out yet still are bound.
A world unseen, yet all too real,
A fortress built of iron will.
The air is thick with dreams once bright,
Now turned to whispers lost in flight.
They flutter, falter, fade to gray,
As walls grow taller day by day.
The mind, a maze, a cruel design,
Each path it twists, each step malign.
A thousand doors, yet none unlock,
Each passage just another block.
I scream, but silence swallows whole,
No answer echoes through my soul.
The sky above, so vast, so far,
A prison roof adorned with stars.
Oh, freedom, fickle, fleeting ghost,
A wish, a thought I covet most.
Yet every time I chase your light,
The walls, they thicken overnight.
I press my hands against the stone,
Its breath is cold; it hums, it moans.
It whispers lies in bitter tones:
"You are nothing, you are alone."
Memories drift like shattered glass,
Reflections lost in moments past.
The chains are old yet never rust,
Forged by fear, and doubt, and dust.
But deep within, a flicker glows,
A rebel spark that dares to grow.
A trembling hand, a fragile plea,
A whisper back: "Remember me."
For buried deep within this cage,
Beneath the sorrow, past the rage,
A voice remains, a name, a fire,
A hunger fierce, a hope, desire.
I will not bow, I will not break,
I will not drown within this ache.
The walls may tower, dark and grim,
But they will crack—I will not dim.
With trembling steps, with heavy breath,
I rise again, defying death.
And though the night is vast and deep,
I will not falter. I will not sleep.
For even trapped within this place,
I forge my path, I claim my space.
I shape my walls, I name my chains,
And I will not be bound again.
A whisper in the silent halls,
A shadow cast against the walls.
But now it walks with steady pace,
For I have found my own escape.
