An old canvas found in the attic revealed something strange.

Jason had always been drawn to the history of his family’s old house. When his parents decided to move to a new place, he decided to take a last look around the attic. Among the dusty boxes and forgotten relics, something caught his eye—an old, rolled-up canvas, bound with a tattered piece of string.

Curious, he carefully unrolled the canvas. It was a painting of a man, standing in a dimly lit room. The man’s expression was full of emotion, but the work itself was unfinished. Parts of the face were blurred, as if the artist had given up midway. Jason felt an odd pull towards it. The unfinished portrait felt... alive in some inexplicable way.

The unfinished painting of a man captured Jason’s curiosity.

Jason decided to hang the painting in his living room. The man’s face, though incomplete, seemed to stare at him as though silently pleading. Each time Jason passed by it, he felt an odd sensation—a feeling that the man in the painting was reaching out to him. The more he looked, the more the expression seemed to change.

The artist had left no signature, no clues about who the subject was, or who painted it. Yet, Jason couldn’t shake the feeling that this painting was more than just a piece of art—it was a mystery waiting to be solved.

Every time Jason looked away, the painting changed.

One night, after hours of staring at the portrait, Jason finally decided to rest his eyes. As he turned away, a sudden cold breeze swept through the room, making the hair on the back of his neck stand up.

When he turned back to the painting, something had changed. The man’s face was no longer blurred in the same places—his eyes were open now, and they were staring directly at Jason.

He rubbed his eyes, convinced it was a trick of the light. But every time he looked away and back again, the changes were more pronounced. The man’s posture shifted, his mouth started to form words, and the background of the painting slowly became more defined. It was as if the man in the portrait was coming to life.

The chilling truth behind the artist’s disappearance unfolded.

Jason’s obsession with the painting grew. He spent every night examining it, trying to understand what was happening. As the changes in the painting became more vivid, he decided to take a closer look at the back of the canvas. There, scrawled in faded ink, was a name—Elliott Moorcroft—along with a date, decades old.

He researched the name and uncovered a terrifying history. Elliott Moorcroft was a well-known artist in the 1800s, but he had mysteriously vanished after painting a series of portraits of a man. The last portrait, unfinished, was said to have been his final work before disappearing without a trace.

Jason realized the truth—the man in the painting wasn’t just a subject; he was the artist himself, trapped in his own creation. The unfinished nature of the painting had bound Elliott to the canvas, and now, the man’s spirit was trying to complete the work—and, in doing so, claim a new soul to take his place.

As Jason stared at the painting one last time, the man’s face smiled—a smile that sent a cold shiver through his spine. He knew, with horror, that he was no longer just an observer. He had become part of the portrait, the next victim to disappear into the painted world.
