Why immigrant issue is the main concern in president Trump’s policy. Why this issue the main concern in president Trump’s policy.
The President Donald Trump’s policy became heavily centered on immigration for a number of reason, reflecting his broader views on national security, the economy, and sovereignty as well as the concerns of his political base. During his presidency, immigration was a major concern for the following reasons:
1. Gaining Political Support from American People
Strong anti-immigration views were a major component of Trump's platform, which helped him gain political support. Many of his supporters, especially those from working-class and rural communities, were worried about illegal immigration and how it might affect national security, public services, and job competition. This group responded favorably to his tough talk and policies, which included erecting a wall along the southern border.
2. Threatening National Security Issues through Illegal Immigration
Trump frequently made a connection between immigration and national security, implying that Illegal immigration may make crime and terrorism more likely. He promoted stronger border control and screening procedures to safeguard American citizens, arguing that unrestricted immigration from specific nation or areas could be a security risk to the USA.
3. Increasing USA’S Economic Burdon
Trump claimed that immigrants, particularly those who entered the country illegally, took jobs away from Americans and put a burden on public services, which could have a negative impact on the U.S. economy. He underlined that while illegal immigration was viewed as an economic burden, legal immigration should give preference to skilled workers who could make direct economic contributions.
4. Threatening USA’s identity and values
Trump frequently expressed worries about how immigration would affect culture in his remakes. Large-scale immigration, according to some of his supporters, might alter American identity and values. Trump's policies and remarks appeared to be intended to maintain a more uniform national culture and what he presented as American customs.
5. Playing Slogan “Breaking Wall” Through Political Strategy
Trump rallied his supporters around the divisive topic of immigration. Trump was successful in rallying voters who felt isolated or intimidated by demographic shifts by portraying himself as the protector of the United States against illegal immigration. Because of this, he was able to garner a lot of support from some voters, especially in crucial battleground states.
6. Restructuring Immigration as a Campaign Capacity
Trump pledged to implement tougher border controls, terminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, and build a wall on the southern border as part of his aggressive immigration policies during the presidential campaign. His "America First" agenda, which put the interests of American citizens ahead of those of immigrants, was centered on these pledges.
What Are Administrative Policies Adopted By President Donald Trump?
The trump administration has planned to expend the wall through the border of USA and Mexico. The administration of Trump has asserted that it is significant to restrain the illegal trafficking from entering the country. Through Declaration of a National Emergency, federal government allowed him to build the wall across Mexico Border.
Secondly, Trump authority has increased the active troops to border. Along with this, president of USA has threatened Mexico with trade tariffs if it does not ensure border security.
Thirdly, Trump administration has enforced the Zero-Tolerance Policy against those who cross the border illegally. Unfortunately this resulted in thousands of family separation.
Fourthly, for reducing illegal immigration, Trump administration has established the Travel Bans and Refugee Camp for many countries including Iran, Somalia and Yemen. This reform was rejected by the Supreme Court.
Fifthly, Trump put new limitation on asylum seekers into effect. The administration started taking a certain number of asylum application every day in 2018. The migration protection protocol program was introduced the following year and mandated that asylum seeker wait in Mexico while their cases were handled by US courts. It also pursued safe third country agreements with a number of Latin American nations, which would have permitted us officials to return asylum seekers who passed through those nations
Sixthly, through the extensive reform initiative, Trump, like his direct predecessors, advocated for family reunification with a merit based one. It did not address the situation of current undocumented residents, but it did include an extension of the border wall and an employment verification system called E-Verify. In the end, congress did not consider the proposal.
