“The Commute Connection”
{My Story My Experience}

One morning in 2017, when I worked in Delhi, I was traveling on the metro train to go to work. The train was packed, and I found myself standing next to an elderly man. He looked a little tired, but had a warm smile on his face.
He smiled at me as I offered him my seat. We started talking, and he told me he was visiting his granddaughter. He said he was nervous because he had not seen her for years and wasn’t sure if she would recognize him. As he spoke, I noticed his eyes were shining when he talked about his family.
Listening to him, I realized how much he cared and how important this trip was to him. It made me think of my own grandparents and made me have even more respect for their feelings and concerns.
When I got off the train, I felt deep empathy. That small conversation reminded me to be more understanding and considerate of others, especially the elderly. It's easy to get caught up in our own lives, but everyone has their own stories and struggles.
Since then, I've made an effort to connect, listen, and show empathy more to those around me, especially my family. It's amazing how a simple conversation can change your perspective and help you grow as a person.
