VERY SHORT STORIES TO DEVOUR IN RECORD TIME
In 2019, I wrote an article for Book Riot about how some of the best fiction I read was under 1,000 words. I still stand by that statement. Goosebumps
The phone began to ring at the office of Louis Trotter and was answered with a click. Handling the phone in one hand, and paintbrush in the other, he said, “Hello? Yes this is Louis…Of course, I’ll be right there.” Then after a couple quick brush strokes onto a notepad, Louis grabbed his belongings and made his way out of his building to his car. The Legacy Auction house was a new destination for him. Louis was an appraiser and authenticator of fine art. Queen of the Forbidden Palace
She set upon me like fire. The curve of her spine aching for more. A lunar spirit in wild, throbbing throes. She lies calm and motionless in her cage. Her feet—bare and smooth held little indications of the chains that kept her bound to her post. She donned the most expensive linens, dyed—bright emerald green, tantric black and lively blue. Where most of the King’s women draped themselves in thick, floor-length gowns of muted gloom—Samaria ensured all eyes found their way to her, and before today she’d never thought of looking at any other man.

The Ninth Wave
To some, the ocean is a dangerous place, full of peril, darkness, and an enveloping drowning of surroundings. But for Captain Espoir and his crew, the ocean offered things that nothing else on earth can offer. It offered an area of endless possibilities. A place where the water could be almost like the paintbrush to the canvas of these individuals lives. Many have found endless riches and fames because of their travels on the sometimes treacherous waters of the ocean. It offered many possibilities, but the possibilities only favored those that took the biggest risks. Everyone knew about the conquerors of the world, who found new lands for their people to go and settle in. Some of the other Captains were able to find lands that would provide solace and offer so much resources. Espoir and his crew were traversing through the waters for one simple reason: they wanted to show that they could do what others before them couldn't. Travel around the world in a record amount of time.
