lore drop (TW-CA & DV): 1 of my earliest memories is being held aloft against a wall by my throat. i was 10 years old. i got sent to the principle's office promptly the next morning so they could get an eyeful of the detailed handprint left on my face. i denied anything happened. an abuse case almost went to trial yrs later in response to a manilla envelope full of photos depicting extensive bruising on my younger siblings' bodies. again i denied anything happened. after several more yrs, i walked in on a physical confrontation. my mom had a black eye. she begged for help. a man twice my height & weight, face inches from mine, says “you want to hit me, don’t you? go ahead, do it, pussy.” i didn’t. there’s an anger that builds inside you from a childhood spent powerless to protect yourself & the people you love. i hope you can appreciate the way i’ve expressed it here.
