October 22nd, 2024, was opening night for the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves. The crowd was excited and electrified, but this opening game was a little different; history was about to be made. LeBron James, superstar forward of the Lakers and arguably one of the greatest power forwards, is entering his 22nd season and is ready to lead his Lakers as far as they can go. This year, he has his 20-year-old son alongside him, LeBron “Bronny” James Jr.! This was so amazing to watch; for the first time ever in history, a father and son suited up not only in the NBA together but on the same team. The odds of that happening are 1 in a billion! There has been much talk about nepotism playing a part, but with or without nepotism, this is still an amazing accomplishment for the James family. As a dad and family man myself, I was just astonished watching it. LeBron truly set an example of what great parenting looks like, as well as the sacrifices he had to make to even be in a position to pull something like this off. I am personally a Lakers fan, and I know if Kobe were still living, he would have been beyond proud as well.
