OFF COLOUR

The Difference

In a world where colors ruled, each shade held a unique power. The sky shimmered in endless hues, and the ground below glowed with vibrant tones. People were born with a single color, imprinted in their eyes, and it determined their destiny. Some had the fiery red of passion and courage, others the cool blues of wisdom and calm. Villages were divided by these colors, and rarely did the reds mix with the greens or the yellows with the purples. Yet, despite the beauty around them, the strict separation between colors kept the world dull, for no one ever saw beyond their own shade.

Amara, born with eyes of gray, was different. Her color was not one of the traditional ones, and because of this, she was treated as an outsider. Gray was considered an empty, unremarkable hue, one that lacked emotion and purpose. But Amara saw the world differently. Her gray eyes allowed her to see all the colors, even those that others couldn’t. She could glimpse the subtleties in every shade, the blend of colors that made each one unique. This gift made her feel both blessed and cursed, for while she saw the beauty in everything, she felt the weight of living in a world divided by the very thing that made it beautiful.

One day, as Amara wandered through the forest, she came upon a place where all the colors bled together. The trees were painted with the most incredible mix of shades, and the sky above swirled like a canvas of every imaginable tone. It was as if the boundaries between colors had disappeared, creating a new world where they could coexist. As she stood in awe, she realized that this was the harmony she had longed for. She knew then that the world wasn’t meant to be separated by colors. It was meant to be united by them, with each hue blending into the other to form something greater than any one color could achieve alone.

Determined, Amara returned to her village and began sharing her vision. At first, the others resisted, frightened by the idea of change. But as she showed them the wonders of the colors blending, they began to see beyond their shades. Little by little, walls between villages fell, and the once rigid boundaries of color began to soften. Reds and blues, greens and yellows, all mixed, creating a vibrant new world where each color was appreciated for its uniqueness, yet celebrated for its ability to combine and create something even more beautiful. In the end, Amara’s once-gray eyes had given birth to a world that finally saw the brilliance of unity.
