How God Teaches Us the Lessons of Idolatry

By Megan HegemanPublished 9 months ago 1 min read
A Letter to My Daughter

To My Daughter,

You may look for Him in every man you meet. Every interaction you have, as a woman, my darling, is yearning for the perfect love that you will never receive.

Or even in me, your dad, or whomever it may be.

An un reachable line, an infinite moving finish line.

And if you are one of the wise ones who don't yearn for this love from a man, you will yearn for it from yourself, eventually needing tangible, earthly characteristics as proof of the love you so, so, desperately need.

Please know, my daughter, you will always fail in this endeavor of yours of an Happily Ever After and Everlasting Love from the tangible reality we currently reside.

For, this is Idolatry.

If this is the case, God will have you fail in these endeavors.

Every door will close, your heart may be struggle to beat through the thorny brush encompassing it. Your life will turn into a cave, a tunnel, a hole..

Dust crowding your lungs as the humid, cold air serves as your only blanket of warmth.

Every turn you make is of darkness... no where else to turn to.

And it is then, my daughter,

you will have no choice,

but to look up,

at Him.

And it is then you will know.
