LHC orders deputy commissioner to decide today on PTI’s plea for Lahore rally

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has instructed the city's deputy commissioner to make a decision by 5 PM today regarding PTI's petitions to hold a rally in Lahore tomorrow. This development comes as the party seeks permission for their planned event in the provincial capital.
A three-member bench, led by LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, reviewed the PTI petitions the day before and requested the presence of key civil officials, including the Punjab chief secretary, police chief, commissioner, deputy commissioner, and the advocate general. This indicates the court's seriousness in addressing the matter swiftly.
The PTI has initiated a mass contact campaign to rally support for its upcoming power show at Minar-i-Pakistan. The petitions for the gathering were submitted by PTI leaders, including ex-MNA Aalia Hamza Malik, MPA Imtiaz Mahmood Sheikh, and Lahore Vice President Akmal Khan Bari.
Today, the bench—comprising Justice Farooq Haider, Justice Tariq Nadeem, and Justice Ali Zia Bajwa—resumed the hearings and ordered Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza to decide on PTI's latest application by 5 PM. While the party sought a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the rally, the LHC also directed the registrar’s office to schedule a hearing for a separate petition filed by PTI seeking permission for the event.
