Jesse Malin, born on January 26, 1967, is an influential American rock musician, guitarist, and songwriter. He started his musical journey at just 12 years old as the frontman of the New York hardcore band Heart Attack, which faced challenges breaking into venues like CBGB due to their inability to draw in a drinking crowd. After Heart Attack disbanded in 1984, he explored various projects, including the band Hope.
Malin gained prominence as the lead vocalist of D Generation, a key band in the New York rock scene during the 1990s. They released several albums, notably the critically acclaimed *No Lunch*, before disbanding in 1999. The band reunited in 2016 to release *Nothing Is Anywhere*.
As a solo artist since 2015, Malin has produced several albums, including *Sunset Kids*, produced by Lucinda Williams. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable artists like Bruce Springsteen, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, and Ryan Adams. He also formed other projects, such as PCP Highway and Bellvue, the latter releasing *To Be Somebody*, which featured early versions of songs that would appear on his solo albums. Malin's work showcases his evolution as a songwriter and musician, reflecting his deep roots in the rock and punk scenes.
