International Brotherhood of Teamsters
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) is a prominent labor union in the United States and Canada, established in 1903 through the merger of the Team Drivers International Union and the Teamsters National Union. As of 2015, the IBT represented approximately 1.3 million members, encompassing a diverse group of blue- and white-collar workers across both public and private sectors.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the IBT is currently led by General President Sean O'Brien and Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman. The union is affiliated with several international labor organizations, including the IndustriALL Global Union and the International Transport Workers' Federation.
Originally known as the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehousemen and Helpers of America, the IBT continues to play a significant role in advocating for workers' rights and interests. For more information, you can visit their website at teamster.org.
