You can use any basic yarn or store-bought plain yarn, with 100% acrylic being recommended. Aluminum crochet hooks are also suitable for various projects. Daisy uses a 5.5 mm crochet hook. To make a slip knot, hold the crochet hook with your index finger pointing downwards, twist it upwards, and pull through the loop to create a loop. Hold the hook and yarn with your thumb and fingers, wrapping the yarn around your pointer finger and grabbing your work with your middle finger and thumb.

To chain, twist the hook away from you, place it on the left side of the string, turn it towards you, and pull through the loop. This is called yarning over. Repeat this process for 11 chains, creating a V with top and bottom loops.

To do a single crochet, insert the hook into the second chain, yarn over behind the string, and pull through both loops. Repeat this process for 10 stitches, creating a square Swatch. If you need to redo stitches, take out the crochet hook and pull the string back.

After completing the Swatch, chain one by yarning over and pulling through. Cut the hook, weave in the ends with a wide opening sewing needle, and cut the extra with scissors.

In summary, Daisy's crochet tutorial covers making slip knots, chain crochet, single crochet, and weaving in the ends. With these basic skills, beginners can create numerous projects using these two stitches. It is essential to practice, take time, and not give up on learning crochet.
