From Lisbon to Singapore: a fall digest of design, architecture and 3D technology events
Time to book your flights, because this fall is packed with exciting events in design, architecture and 3D technology. Each of these events is a boost of creative energy, inspiration and new knowledge.

Why do we need a digital twin of the entire planet in virtual reality, especially one with interactive capabilities that can recreate specific events? I have a theory, though it doesn't seem particularly comforting.
Instead of speculating about the purpose behind this new innovative solution, which made an appearance on the list of developments at the popular SIGGRAPH 2024 conference, it's better to view it through the lens of rapidly advancing technology. Spoiler alert: these advances often intersect with the world of 3D.
Let’s not be modest – these technologies are shaping our "three-dimensional" future, where professionals from various industries from cinema to industrial design, act as our guides. Motion designers, interior designers and 3D visualizers are creating experiences with minimal barriers to entry making them invaluable and unforgettable for the average person. At the same time, the use of "wow" tools is bringing order to the ranks of any business, all of which strive to be synonymous with efficiency.
But how can we make "collisions" with the unknown more understandable and predictable to yield greater profit? The answer: stay attuned to the ever-changing world of technology by listening to market leaders' podcasts, attending popular platforms for exchanging smart ideas, and sitting side by side with representatives of giant corporations. Or do all of the above in virtual reality if you can't snag a plane ticket to Austria or Milan.
By the way, there are many exciting events on the horizon! They will cover everything from trends in architecture to the intimidating realm of artificial intelligence. Free up some mental bandwidth – it's time to gear up for an autumn packed with informative weeks full of presentations, talks and discussions.
Digital Design Days
The event calendar kicks off with the modest yet elegantly abbreviated DDD taking place from October 6 to 8, 2024.
Special attention should be given to the Milan edition for a simple reason – after a four-year hiatus they are emerging from the shadows with a sense of complete renewal (especially after much reflection during the pandemic) and are ready to showcase the flexible capabilities of the human mind. This, by the way, is closely "collaborating" with artificial intelligence – at the event, a unique AI Data Art cognitive sculpture by Ouchhh will be on display.
We're coming back, bigger and bolder. We're creating the best edition in history to affirm the global leadership of this ever-evolving project. What began as an event has become a global meeting point for the digital design community, bringing together thousands of professionals from around the world with the brightest minds in the industry and the most innovative brands,
– the event organizers wrote on social media.
With more than 60 speakers from 2Advanced, Locomotive, The Fabricant, Ouchhh, Territory Studio, Spotify, Elastic, Ard Thanea, Fantasy, Rare Volume and Mastercard, and 3,000 guests including designers, developers, entrepreneurs, freelancers, brand managers, investors and marketers, the event promises endless discussions on AI, countless networking opportunities, constant interactivity and testing of the latest technologies. Digital Design Days at Superstudio Più is sure to blow your mind offering a unique experience and helping you forge new business partnerships.
In short, let's focus on Web 3.0, listen closely about blockchain, and take notes from Mathieu Ducharme and other speakers.
Web Summit
"A grand conclave of the tech industry's high priests", –
this is how the New York Times described the upcoming tech storm that will take place in Lisbon from November 11 to 14.
The question "Where do we go from here?" posed by the organizers (and ultimately to the participants) will never lose its relevance. Why? It's all due to the relentless pace of technological advancement, which is integrating ever faster into every aspect of human life, leaving an indelible mark.
At the world’s largest conference, in addition to discussing a broad range of topics from design to AI, you can participate in the PITCH competition by applying to the renowned ALPHA startup program. So, if you're looking to meet face-to-face with the brightest minds in the industry, find solutions for your business (or make a valuable contribution to the development of public relations) and simply spend time surrounded by the intellectually elite, you know what to do.
Dubai Index
Although the leading design exhibition in the Middle Eastern market, held annually in Dubai, is now behind us, it’s worth revisiting. If only to pay homage to the event’s 30-year legacy, which has steadfastly become the epicenter and a crucial link between design trends and those who create them.
The main sections dedicated to furniture and lighting became a magnet for professionals. Approximately 30,000 architects, designers, manufacturers and local interior suppliers created a powerful platform for collaboration through their presence. Dubai Index also addressed key sales strategies, which play a vital role in promoting their services.
At first glance, it may seem like there’s no trace of 3D technology here, but that’s a misconception. Design, as an all-encompassing phenomenon, serves as a true source of inspiration, especially when representatives from Foster + Partners are among the keynote speakers.
Attending the INDEX Exhibition was a strategic move for Studio57. Our advanced technology and expertise in 3D visualization allow us to offer unique solutions to our clients. The new contacts and partnerships we established at INDEX Dubai are a testament to the growing demand for our services and the opportunities within the UAE market. We are particularly excited about the potential for our new 3D rendering services for the metaverse in such a forward-thinking environment,
– shared one of the exhibitors, Alexander Kasperovich, CEO of Studio57.
Dutch Design Week
The exhibition, based in the Dutch city of Eindhoven, consistently reflects the issues of the day with a clear focus on pressing themes. For teams and studios specializing in 3D, the upcoming event, scheduled from October 19 to 27 promises to be particularly thrilling.
The theme for Dutch Design Week 2024 revolves around navigating different realities. The theme addresses the complexities of the world’s challenges and the ability of designers to explore and question what we accept as truths: Real Unreal,
– reads the Dutch Design Week website.
The organizers of this nine-day intensive on the unreal in the real world believe in the power of design to change the world by offering truly innovative solutions. We can expect valuable, authentic, slightly mad and somewhat “under-the-radar” designs that are sure to appeal to everyone.
World Architecture Festival
One of the most significant events, offering a gathering place for exceptional minds in a single venue. The festival will take place in Singapore from November 6 to 8 (and then quickly on to a week of enlightenment in Lisbon!). As always, it serves as a buffer zone between architectural traditions and cutting-edge technologies that are reshaping our consciousness.
WAF's emphasis on sustainability, urbanism, and adaptive reuse deeply resonates with the 3D industry, which strives not only to reflect social issues but also to address them through its skills. The close collaboration between 3D artists, architects and designers is yet another reason to showcase the mutual benefits of these relationships resulting in high-quality products.
The World Architecture Festival is an invaluable opportunity to gain knowledge, build connections and be at the forefront of a new era in the industry’s evolution. And, of course, to harness inspiration...
