Where those who have held his hand since the very beginning, those spines still tingling since the first listens of ‘Julia’ and ‘Kyle’. And then there’s those who have gradually boarded the Fred train alongside ‘Billie’ and ‘Marea’.

Depending on which camp you’re in will undoubtedly influence how you receive his latest offering ‘ten days’.

For the latter, ‘ten days’ is a completely different side of Fred that they’ve probably never seen before. For the former, it’s a familiar and long overdue return to why they fell in love in the first place.

And now they get to fall in love all over again.

It will be Fred’s most divisive album (excluding the Brian Eno collab ‘Secret Life’), but he won’t let that bother him. It’s impossible to doubt something that comes straight from the heart.

For many, it will be a tough album to swallow. They’ll feel let down that there isn’t another host of club floor fillers to take MDMA and selfies to. Perhaps for the first time, they’ll question what it actually means to be a Fred Again.. fan. They’ll either embrace his dramatic return to his roots or disregard him as an artist that has lost his touch. They’ll wait to see what their friends say and act accordingly.

Fred knows who this album is for. It’s for those who’ll recognise the quiet strength and truthfulness behind each delicately constructed composition. We haven’t seen such raw beauty since ‘Actual Life 1’. It’s what the true believers have all been waiting for, and something that he’s only been teasing in his previous works up to this point.Start writing...
