John Bauer

Swedish artist John Albert Bauer was also an illustrator and know for his artwork in landscape, mythology, and portraits. He studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, where he began illustrating stories for books and magazines. His trips to Lapland, Germany, and Italy influenced his artistic style blending romantic nationalism with elements of Italian Renaissance and Sami cultures. Bauer tragically died in a shipwreck at the age of 36.
