Joc de Nens was a short film produced by Pijama Studio, with music by the group La Casa Azul, known for their song ‘La Revolución Sexual’. An original idea that Rubén Sánchez shot when he was 20 years old. The script arises from a visual and musical bet, which narrates how a boy copes with the loss of his best friend the year he starts university and feels different from his classmates.

CULTURE / CINEMA. From an internship at Escac to Filmin and a tour of film festivals. The young film director Rubén Sánchez, known for films such as (Lamento, El noi del 98, Joc de Nens). He presents Una dona davant el Mar, a simple and tender film about the love between a mother and her sick child.

My aim with this film is to tell an honest love story and to present a female character who is able to heal her wounds and reconnect with her emotions. The innovation of this film lies not only in the subject matter, but in the point of view from which it is explained. The focus is not on the trauma, but on the possibility of acceptance.

For me, it is especially important to present a model of a healthy relationship between mother and child, escaping from the toxic clichés that we usually find on the screens. That is why the female character, far from being a victim, is a strong, assertive person, and that is also the reason why I have built a sensitive co-protagonist with sufficient emotional intelligence to accompany her in this complex process. I have based the work with the actors on guided meditations, which I have made especially for them, with the aim of reaching a state of real connection and vulnerability.

The maternal relationship is treated naturally, an emotional connection accompanied by bad news and how our character is able to accept and carry the pain inside without externalising it, with understanding and love. -Rubén Sánchez.

The short film will be released on Filmin in May 2021. It has toured Festivals, in THE MONTHLY FILM FESTIVAL, nominated for best actress. It will premiere in Paus Premier del Regre Unit. La Clàudia won Best Actress at the Porto Casero Festival in Italy. It has been in the Parana International Films.
