Kora, having recently moved into a luxury apartment in Manhattan, encounters a series of intriguing and challenging situations. Her condo, which has 13 floors, features an unusual population distribution: five people live on the ground floor, and each subsequent floor has two more residents than the one below it. Consequently, the ground floor calls the elevator the most due to its higher number of occupants.

Meeting her neighbor Mason, Kora discovers he named his four daughters Hannah, l Eve, and Anna using a palindromic pattern, where each name reads the same forwards and backwards.

Upon reaching her 13th-floor apartment, Kora is startled to find that the elevator's reflection of the number 13 in the mirror is incorrect. She also encounters issues with movers, identifying an impostor among them by noticing that the third mover carries a box without her name and has a cast on one arm.

Kora receives four welcome baskets from neighbors, but one contains bugs instead of chocolate, making it unsafe. She interviews three candidates for a cleaning job and realizes one is lying: Harry, who is too transparent to be real, is actually a ghost.

While exploring the rooftop pool, Kora meets three neighbors, one of whom is an alien—evidenced by having seven toes and lacking a belly button. Returning home, she finds an expensive painting stolen and replaced with a cheap copy, identifying the fake by its thinner frame.

Kora then questions her neighbors Ashley and Megan, discovering that Ashley likely dates three people, as indicated by the multiple cakes in her fridge. The police later arrest three suspects for the theft of Kora's painting, with the guilty party revealed through matching sneaker footprints.

Lost during a hike, Kora chooses the safest path, following the river, which will lead her out. At a local concert hall, she identifies the real magician by observing that the third magician’s hat levitates on its own.

After attending an opera with ancient Egyptian costumes, Kora spots a time traveler among the actors by process of elimination. She then navigates a spooky dungeon, where she cracks a code reflected in a mirror, revealing "evil" as the password.

In a series of tests, Kora helps to identify a thief by an eraser, encounters a fake statue in a dining room, and chooses the right envelope containing a diamond necklace by weighing them. Finally, she discovers that her neighbors orchestrated a welcoming prank with levitating lamps.

Kora's adventures conclude with a mix of deception, problem-solving, and surprising reveals, blending the excitement of urban living with a touch of mystery and intrigue.
