1.1 billion people in the world struggle with poverty

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) announced that 1.1 billion people out of 6.1 billion people in 110 countries struggle with poverty.
The United Nations Organization (UN) declared October 17 - the World Day for the Eradication of Poverty, the decision being taken on December 22, 1992. In this context, the UN carries out activities aimed at drawing the attention of the international community to this problem through the events it organizes .
According to UNDP's Global Multidimensional Poverty Index 2023, 1.1 billion people out of 6.1 billion people living in 110 countries struggle with poverty.
Five out of every six poor people in the world live in sub-Saharan Africa or South Asia. At the regional level, 47.8% of people in Sub-Saharan Africa experience poverty, while in South Asia this rate is 34.9%.
Apart from South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, 65% of people affected by poverty are in China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Sudan and Yemen.
Among the development goals set by the UN to protect the world and ensure world prosperity is the eradication of poverty by 2030.
According to UNDP data, with just over $14 billion it is possible to reduce the growth of the world's poverty rate and lift millions of people living on less than $3.65 a day out of poverty.
