Top 10 Resources to Help in Your Learning ML & AI Journey
Handy List to Keep You Fully Engaged!

1. Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach (book):
This book is one of the most well-known resources for artificial intelligence. It provides a solid foundation in machine learning and also dives into other types of AI such as decision trees, Bayesian networks, Markov models, and artificial neural networks. It is often the first book people read when they are learning artificial intelligence, and it covers many concepts that other resources go into more detail on.
2. Data Science from Scratch (book):
This book was written by Joel Grus who writes for Data Skeptic which is a great blog about data science topics. The premise of this book is to teach you machine learning without any libraries or tools so you can understand how all the pieces fit together under the hood in Python code. While it doesn't cover some algorithms like neural networks, decision trees, or Bayesian analysis it does give an introduction to linear regression along with logistic regression and cluster through unsupervised methods such as principal component analysis and k-means clustering.
3. Learn Python by Examples (course):
If you want to learn machine learning concepts from scratch then Learn Python by Example is perfect for beginners who have no knowledge about programming at all. It covers artificial neural network basics using Numpy & matplotlib in Python code. The artificial intelligence lessons are free but you'll need to pay a small fee to get access to the course materials which include PDFs covering topics like linear regression, clustering & SVMs in detail!
4. KDnuggets (website):
KDnuggets is the home of artificial intelligence and machine learning news. It can be a great resource to stay up to date on what's new in artificial intelligence as well as related topics like data science, business analytics, and more! The website also has job postings for those interested in careers in data science or artificial intelligence. Be sure to check out their monthly Analytics/Data Science salary survey too which they send out free if you sign up with your email address at the bottom of their homepage.
5. MIT Open Courseware (courses):
MIT is known for its high-quality artificial intelligence classes but unfortunately, they don't teach them anymore because of how labor-intensive it was so instead they provide online courses using videos & reading materials related to artificial intelligence. You can find old lecture notes from previous semesters about artificial neural networks, genetic programming, and reinforcement learning along with artificial intelligence videos & textbooks. They also have artificial intelligence project ideas if you want to practice your skills working on new problems!

6. Introduction to Data Science (course):
This course is run by Columbia University on Coursera but it has been designed people without any background knowledge can still learn artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts. It has a great reputation for providing quality content with clear explanations, useful handouts, and interactive quizzes. The course covers topics such as natural language processing, k-means clustering, decision trees, and random forests along with some advanced artificial neural network methods like backpropagation through time which is more commonly referred to as deep learning these days!
7. Machine Learning Mastery (website):
Machine Learning Mastery is another website dedicated to artificial intelligence resources. They have written posts about many different types of artificial intelligence including supervised learning algorithms like linear regression, logistic regression & kNN so you can see the differences between them all in Python code. They also have videos of artificial neural networks, decision trees, and more!
8. Kaggle (website):
Kaggle calls itself the home of data science & artificial intelligence competitions. If you're new to artificial intelligence they recommend starting here with their tutorials which are beginner-friendly while still teaching some useful machine learning concepts like kNN, linear regression, and logistic regression in Python code. The website is totally free but if you want to compete on real-world problems for money or other prizes then it costs $25 per month to start an account.
9. Dataquest (course):
Dataquest takes a unique approach by offering short lessons that teach artificial intelligence topics like artificial neural networks, k-means clustering, and decision trees. You can take their artificial intelligence course which is free or they have other courses that teach machine learning topics like natural language processing & sentiment analysis in R. All of the content on Dataquest's website has been created by professional data scientists so you're sure to learn proper artificial intelligence techniques from those who actually use them day-to-day!
10. RiseML Blog (website):
The artificial intelligence category on the RiseML blog has almost 30 artificial intelligence tutorials that are well written and beginner-friendly. These artificial intelligence lessons teach topics like decision trees, random forests, logistic regression in R code so you can see an example of how to solve a problem if you don't know how! The website is totally free but there may be paid articles in their newsletter which they send out every few weeks or months.
