Writing Project Updates and Ramblings

Besides writing stories and poems here on Vocal, I've been occupied with a few other writing projects.

Right now, I am working on 3 and have 1 writing project completed and published. 

I've been using Reedsy Editor which is basically Reedsy's version of a word processor. I really like the layout Reedsy gives to drafts and I highly recommend it if you're looking for an alternative to Microsoft Word or Google Docs.

Insight (Sci-fi, technothriller) 

This is my main writing project that I've been working on for some time now. I am Un shamefully a slow writer, but I am also persistent! My goal is to have my draft done by the end of March or early April and spend the next few months doing heavy editing and preparing it for publication. 

Summary:

Donovan Stowe is ripped from his world and into the world of Illumina where the unimaginable is just part of mundane everyday life. His discoveries lead him to a highly advanced tech research facility called Insight. 

Donovan's unusual fascination with these everyday technologies captures the attention of the formidable Dr. Maddox. Before long, Donovan finds himself caught between projects full of obsession and fascination and desperately searching for a way home. 

I originally had this story up on Kindle Vella. But alas! Kindle Vella is no more. Now I have it up on Inkitt. 

I'm still getting used to moving my content to other places, but I do like Inkitt's design layout! It gives your story a fun yet professional feel. I recommend it for romance and fantasy writers.

I am so close to finishing this story and I think I can finally see the light haha! 

I would be an absolute dream to get this story finished! 

When a Medium Met a Ghost (Paranormal Mystery, Romance)

I haven't been working as much on this story as my other writing projects. I didn't abandon it though! The story idea has been on my mind for a while and wanted to make something out of it. It won't be as long as my main writing project, Insight. Or at least I don't intend it to be!

Summary:

Cherlynn Jade has a rare gift of seeing into the spirit world. Except she doesn't want anything to do with it. Felix White hasn't been alive for more than 100 years. Thrown into the spirit world with no warning, he's become a cynical ghost. 

One night, Felix makes himself known to Cherlynn. It unfolds into a reluctant journey to help Cherlynn embrace her abilities and the chance for Felix to trust the living world. 

Until I think of a better name, the title is just a placeholder.

A Poetry Collection 

I've been writing poetry off and on, so I've been thinking, why not make it into a poetry collection?

I have no idea what my title will be just yet, but I do have an idea for the theme. 

As I look back on the poems I've written thus far, I noticed that a majority of them are about self-reflections, self-love, and just being observant of everyday life. It's going to be positive and inspirational.

I'm thinking of doing 100 poems in this collection and as of now, I'm on poem number 35. I'm getting there! As I've said before persistence is key!

With a few WIPs (works in progress), I am happy to say that I do have one completed writing project! 

Off and on, I've been writing short paranormal horror stories. I've been inspired to write these stories because of my love of the mysteries of the paranormal and the unexplained.

I gathered those stories and turned them into a short story collection. Each story takes only five minutes of read time, some a little more.

Summary:

What is it that you fear the most? The unknown? Things that defy explanation? The very things you cannot see? My intention is to share my fears with you through these stand-alone short paranormal horror stories. Some of these are loosely based on real experiences of mine like "The Sleep Demon" while others are purely from the dark side of my imagination like "The Unwelcome Visitors".

Many of these stories will fall between that hazy in between state of imagination and reality. That strange divide of a waking dream. Follow me into the darkest reaches of my mind and decide for yourself what is real.

Maybe some time, I could pick one story out of this collection and turn it into a stand-alone horror story. I think I might be thinking too far ahead though! I still have 3 works in progress after all!
