What to Expect During a Termite Inspection

Pest Control Management

By Green Pest ManagementPublished about a year ago 1 min read

A termite inspection is the first step toward protecting your home from damage caused by termites. Knowing the process will allow homeowners to know what to expect from the inspection and how it helps protect their property. A licensed inspector will be able to go through all areas of your home with a termite inspection, taking into account the interior and exterior areas that termites are likely to hide in and cause damage.

This is typically done from outside, where the inspector assesses for mud tubes on the foundation, damaged wood, or other signs of termites around windows and door frames. They can check nearby trees, fences, or mulch beds to see if termites go through these areas to find their way into a residence.

Inside, he checks the basement, crawl space, or attic. He will tap wooden surfaces for hollow sounds that are possible signs of termite damage. He also examines areas with moisture, which may be bathroom or kitchen areas, since termites seek moisture.

After the inspection, he will give you a comprehensive report on any termite activity, damage, and possible vulnerabilities in your home. In case of an infestation, the report should have recommendations for treatment and preventive measures.

This kind of inspection finds active infestations but also provides a preventive service that you can go home with and not have that worried head. This, in effect, is actually part of your proactive strategy when it comes to protecting your home from what might be costly damage made by these termites over time.
