The village had once been full of laughter and life, but now, it felt like the quiet before the storm of death. His loved ones, now scattered across the world, would soon face the same fate. With each passing day, he wondered: What is the meaning of all the striving, the love, and the pain, when, in the end, we all must die?

My Novel Died in the Query Trenches, So What’s Next?
At the beginning of last year, I attempted to query a speculative novel. The story was queer and discussed themes of depression and isolation. By the time I went through my final reread, I thought for sure this would be the project that’d land me a literary agent.
