The Promise in the Rain
Sometimes, love returns when you stop waiting for it

The sky was heavy that evening, filled with the scent of rain and memories.
Ayaan stood under the same bus stop where, two years ago, he had last seen her — Mira.
The rain had just begun to fall, soft and slow, like a whisper from the past.
He remembered her laughter — the way she’d always hide her face when raindrops touched her cheeks.
Back then, they believed love was simple. No distance, no excuses, just two hearts and one umbrella.
But life has a strange way of testing promises.
When Mira had to move to another city for her studies, they promised to stay together.
For a while, calls, texts, and late-night chats kept them close.
Until one day, silence replaced “I love you.”
Tonight, after two years of silence, Ayaan was back at the same place — not to wait, but to let go.
And just when he turned to leave, a familiar voice said softly,
“You still wait here… don’t you?”
He froze. That voice — that smile — that same sparkle in the eyes.
It was her. Mira.
The rain poured harder, but neither moved.
No words, no explanations — just two soaked souls standing under the same broken shade.
Finally, Mira whispered,
“Some promises never break, Ayaan. They just take time to find their way back.”
Ayaan smiled for the first time in years.
Under that rain, two hearts kept a promise — silently, beautifully, forever.
