The Man and the Boy in Sorrow

Both were sorrowful because their compassion had not yet grown, in the face of human suffering.

By Vincent LuongPublished about a year ago 1 min read

At the crossroads, there stood a sorrowful man. He quietly watched the rush of traffic, under the blazing sun, under the drizzling rain of the afternoon. And even during the pitch-black night. The man, silent, begged the passersby for help to survive.

There was a boy who seemed not to be in sorrow. Absent-minded, he looked around the crossroads, waiting for the red light to pass. He looked at the man, "Pitiful," "Sympathizing with the suffering of others." But. Doubt! Is he truly suffering? Is he just begging?

The boy’s eyes avoided, brushed away. But now, the boy felt sorrow.

Both were sorrowful because their compassion had not yet grown, in the face of human suffering.
