The cycle continues.
Every morning, at 11 am, a group of magpies come over and rest on the lawn of the Jordans. They hide in a corner by the fence, flying to and picking at something mysterious. Mel tries to check it very often but always finds nothing.
But one morning, Mel’s determination got the better of her. 30 minutes before time, she headed to her garage to grab any tools she could find. 5 minutes before time, she hid in the bushes and waited for the group of magpies to come. Then they did.
They do what they always do. They flew to and picked whatever was in the corner by the fence. Mel quickly grabbed her binoculars and zoomed in to see what could attract those birds over and over again. Unfortunately, the magpies were blocking her way. She tried moving her binoculars around to get a closer look, but the only things she could see were the feathers of the black and white species.
Frustrated, Mel ran out of the bushes and towards the corner. As the birds flew away, the grass revealed something shiny. Curious, Mel swept the grass to the side to see a beautiful diamond ring. She tried to pick it up but it was stuck in the grass. Mel quickly ran back to the bushes to grab a shovel. She used it to take the ring out and ran inside to wash it.
It was more gorgeous when it was clean.
After wondering how much she could sell it for, Mel tried it on to see if it would fit. It did.
Just as she was about to turn the water off, she noticed something. Her hands were two different shades. Her fingers were missing and instead turned into wings. For a while, she was panicked about it, just as all of them were. But eventually, she figured it out.
