The Empty Chair

The Silent Exchange of Generations

By Albert EliasPublished 5 months ago 1 min read
Wisdom flows quietly from those who have lived, to those who are still learning to live.

In a bustling town, there was a small café where an old man sat every morning at the same table by the window. Beside him was always an empty chair. People often wondered why he never let anyone sit there.

One curious young woman finally asked him, “Sir, why do you always leave this chair empty?”

The old man smiled softly and said, “This chair is for gratitude. I keep it empty to remind myself that no matter how much I have or don’t have, there is always space for thankfulness in my life.”

The young woman left the café that day with more than a cup of coffee. She carried with her a new way of seeing life—that an empty chair can be the fullest seat of all.
